I wake up in a cold sweat and I yell. There's a storm outside, these days I always wake up to storms. My Dad rushes into my room.
He asks, "You ok Ray?" With a worried look.
I reply, "Yeah, just the storm" while pointing at the window
He closes the door. These days I can't sleep because of Charlie. Charlie was my older brother, he was shot by home invasion and killed a month ago by an intruder in a hoodie. I will never forget that moment. Why didn't I do something. I could've just shouted "Hey!" Or something instead of just standing there. Charlie's death really affected everybody in town. Charlie was an exceptional football player. I'm pretty sure he was going to University on a scholarship. He had a girlfriend, football probably helped with that. Her name was...Quinn, yes her name was Quinn. Charlie never liked us getting too involved with his love life. But from what I saw in school, the were quite the catch. She came to all his football games, they went on actual dates in actual restaurants, so you could tell that they loved each other. When Quinn heard the news she went ballistic. She was crying, cursing, she punched a wall and broke a knuckle, and then she went into a ball and shut everyone out. It wasn't a pretty sight. Mom has become somewhat of a zombie, walking around in a housecoat, she looked dead in her eyes, Dad said to just let her be. Dad was trying to stay strong for me, but now that I think about it you don't technically know who "me" is. My name is Raymond Harris, and I will stop at nothing to solve my brother's murder.
