Max stood in a pool of his own blood feeling like he was about to pass out when he saw a fuzzy outline of a person running towards him, he smiled softly and let himself fall onto the grass that surrounded him and his blood. That's all he could remember from that day, no name of the person that saved him, no understanding of how he survived and no idea who was standing outside his hospital room. That person had been standing there for who knows how long but little did Max know that person would soon play a huge part in his story that is only unfolding.

Max looked around the white blank room there was a sink and a small table holding the only colourful item in the room, a single purple and green envelope. Max was confused by the presence of the this envelope and grabbed and read over the name on the back

"A-am I dreaming?"

He asked himself out loud, then he ran his hand over the smooth paper and read the address on the back of the envelope, which was addressed to him so he picked it up and the person that was previously standing outside the room disappeared but suddenly appeared at the foot of the bed where Max lay. The figure then appeared right at the foot of Max's bed giving the white haired boy a rather large fright

"W-who the hell are you?"

The boy asked out of fear and confusion, he looked at the figure wide eyed and gasped slightly as he tried to make out facial features of the person as if he could recognise them.

"The person who saved your life"

The figure said staring him directly in the eyes, they sighed and sat in the chair that sat next to max's hospital bed

"And your soon to be mentor but I can't be your mentor until you can walk"

They muttered the last few words and gave another annoyed sigh. They mumbled a few words under their breath, they turned towards Max and gave him a small look of disapproval then they rolled their eyes

"What's your name?"

Max asked shyly looking at his hands which rested on the bed on top of his legs and he started to sweat slightly from the tension in the room, he spared a small glance at the person who said they saved his life then looked back down

"You want to know my name?"

They asked and then they gave a small nod, they looked at him and gave yet another small sigh

"My name is Athena, Athena Page"

They said looking back at the wall then they rose from their chair and looked at him, then they looked at the letter that Max held in his right hand that was stamped with a purple wax seal, Max continued to look at it and not opening it

"Aren't you going to open the letter?"

Athena asked raising their eyebrow and looking at Max, Max looked at them as the worry filled his expression and he looked back down at the letter and asked

"Are you sure this is for me?"

To make sure he wasn't opening someone else's mail and Athena nodded so Max slowly peeled the wax seal off of the parchment, he opened the envelope while his hands shook and he took the contents out of the envelope

"A school?"

He asked confused reading the acceptance letter and Athena nodded, he then looked at the second piece of paper and he gasped when he read the equipment that he would need

"A sword!?"

He asked in shock while looking at the feminine person in front of him, his eyes were wider than a dish and his mouth dropped open when Athena nodded at him with slight amusement at his reaction to the acceptance letter to "Faye's School for Magical Beings". A small chuckle escaped Athena's lips and Max looked at her still in obvious shock, Athena smirked and finally spoke again

"So I go on January 17th?"

He asked Athena and they nodded, that's when two adults ran in and went to Max's side the woman held his hand and the man stood beside his wife and glared at Athena

"Max what are you doing here!?"

The woman yelled at him and he looked down, the woman then grabbed him by the ear and continued to yell at him. Athena looked at him with sympathy, the two adults were the people Max was left with when he was a baby. Mary and Leeroy Dullpip, the worst ever parents a kid could ask for, they would yell at him for the sake of yelling at him and worse was they would hit him if he got the tiniest thing wrong. They didn't care nor were they going to care about him, all they cared about was living their normal lives with their own son Dunkin. Now Dunkin was actually the opposite of his parents which is quite shocking because children of parents like Mary and Leeroy usually turn out to be bratty and think that they will always get their way, But Dunkin was different he was quiet and liked to keep to himself. Him and Max had grown to be very good friends despite Dunkin's parents disapproving of their friendship the friendship grew stronger. Dunkin was with his parents when they were visiting Max and he ran over to him

"Max!" he said surprised on why he was in hospital "oh I thought you were dead!" Dunkin was the one who really kept Max sane.
