A free mind
many kinds are unkind to the first of its kind
so they wave fists to such a different kind
free of mind and reason
living in the soul's prison
is it right to to pick pistols, throw bricks and have fits over an ego fix
when the world remains in ruin, wounded mothers and children; when
will the truth win when we cannot see close to the light
searching and seeking with heart more than mind
in soul's searching and yearning a calm we must find
so we are not compelled to hit rewind but always close to unwind
at peace with the pieces to which we've been lacerated
so much not felt when happiness is taken for bigotry exaggerated
so a smile would be lie as you are not happy for a brother on a green mile
but rather secretly plotting to have him backward on his stride
when will we walk when we are made to feel compelled to stop going?
And when will we run when the road stops showing?
When will we calm and grow so listening is available for knowing
and the chances start throwing at us light so we aren't lost and know where we should be going
express enough amount that will take us to the summit
so we are profound
and there is no chauvinism,
more self-mastery and less dictatorship and controlling
we are restless when we are quick to hurt each other without learning but highly expecting...
We think like gods when we become watchdogs of each other rather than helpers of the other
watching for faults and not appreciating the beauty
so we lie to each other and confuse ourselves
darkness knocks with the door wide open so we have no way of knowing where the light could be strolling
heart quench me of my bitterness and misery
calmness soothe me of my ignorance and jaded views
voice sing me into the words of wisdom
and acts roll me onto deeds of kindness
love lead me where life lives
may I change myself before I am quick to want to change another
may I see in a human, a sister a brother.
May I speak free of mind, devoid of ego and prejudice.
