(Note: Y'know how last chapter I said that this chapter would be out by October 17th at the least? Bullshit. I know I have terrible update scheduling, you guys should know that too. Plus, I got like seventeen different fanfictions with double digit chapters I have to write, so I mainly work on those.
Apologies, can't say it won't happen again, 'cause it will- whatever. This chapter is focused on Liliana and her little brother, as well as eavesdropping Marinette. Lot's of Batfam stuff, other things. Just read it. Jessica the author. How original.)
-
The whole time she and the others were goofing off and trash-talking one another through video games, she couldn't help but notice how quiet Liliana was in her bean bag chair, checking her phone every five minutes. At first, Marinette thought she was texting one of her weird cheerleader friends, only to find that Liliana would worriedly typing to someone.
It was rude to try to find out, but with how curious Marinette was, she couldn't help it. It was none of her business but... "Hey. Ashe. Can I borrow your bathroom?" Liliana spoke for the second time that evening.
"Yeah, sure. You know where it is. Door's hidden behind the surfboard rack," she spoke, not even looking up from her intense game of Smash Bros with Jon and Bart. She got up, heading over. Sliding the surfboard rack to the side, opening the door to a bathroom filled with disco LED lights. In her hand, a phone number was dialed onto her phone.
"Hey... can I take a look at your stuff. Like, your surfboard collection, Ashe?"
"Pfft, sure. I don't care. Do whatever you want, you don't need my permission to have fun here."
"Thanks..." Marinette wandered over to the surfboards, pretending to slide her fingers along the grainy board. In reality, she was doing her best not to make any noise as she attempted to listen in to Liliana's conversation.
"...did you take your medicine? What do you mean you don't want to? You have to. Is Roberta there? She's not- goddamn- don't repeat that. Listen, is Mrs. Calabria home? Is her porch light on? Ask her for help, Zander. I'll be back tomorrow to take you to your soccer game. Promise. Stay safe, lock the doors, go the bed. Love you. Bye. And I mean it, go to sleep. Alright. Bye."
The call ended with a beep. A loud sigh heard from behind the door.
Was Liliana's brother sickly? And who was this 'Roberta' person?
Marinette quickly tiptoed over to the wall of graffiti on Ashe's room before Liliana could find out that she had been... 'finding out more' about her and her personal life.
"Hey Ashe, are you into graffiti?" Ashe looked over.
"Oh, yeah. It's something I've always seemed interested in, so instead of actually vandalizing actual buildings, I got this wall renovated into concrete. Note the ton of ventilation," she laughed, pointing at the open windows and half-empty air fresheners. "I still paint on the sides of buildings, anyways."
"I have a friend back in Paris that likes... pretty much everything you do, Ashe. They legit have the same color of hair as you. Bright pink," Ashe snorted, running a hand through her newly dyed hair.
"I want to meet them... anyways..." Liliana walked out of the bathroom, wiping her wet hands on her leggings. "Party games? Truth or dare or whatever? Never have I ever?"
"I'm down. My phone is about to die. Ashe?" Liliana walked in the direction where Ashe's toe pointed, plugging in her phone.
"Alright! For this, we need Damian! Wait right here!" Ashe leapt up. Dashing out the door, Liliana, Marinette, Nova and the others all sat on cushions or sleeping bags, all munching on chips or getting ready to get some pretty gruesome 'Never Have I Ever' questions.
"-let go of me, Achaya! I can walk myself!"
"Pfft, you like a fucking green bean," she plopped her brother down between Marinette and Liliana. And instantly, 'oh no,' Marinette thought. Liliana glanced up at him, patted his shoulder then reached over to grab a bag of candies.
"Alright... let's start simple before we get into any personal or juicy questions. Any boundaries? Anybody?"
"Um... none. I think?" Marinette looked around. Liliana nodded, as did everyone else.
"No offenses would be taken, correct?"
More nods. "HELL YEAH! Uh... first question... Nova?"
"Um... never have I ever... oh my gods, this is so hard! Why'd you pick me first?" she flushed out of stress. Ashe laughed, tossing her head back. Marinette couldn't help but snicker at the lilac-haired girl's reaction. "Don't laugh! This is hard for me! Bart, go!"
Bart whooped, punching his arms in the air. "ALRIGHT! I fuck this shit up like it's drugs! Not saying that I do drugs beside taking that kid's cough drop stuff. Y'know, like the kind where you put it into the plastic cup and it takes good at first but once you actually start to kind of get a feel of the taste, you're kind of like, 'ew,' so-"
Liliana rolled her eyes, copying Damian, who did the exact same thing.
"Bart, slow your roll, fam," Jon said, carefully taking the bag of jelly beans out his hands. "How about I go, then you next?" Bart made motioning movements for the bag, a sign that he may or may not have understood. Either way, Jon handed him the bag of sugar back, clearing his throat and adjusting his glasses.
"Nerd," Ashe snorted, adjusting her own glasses in the same manner.
"Real funny. Alright... never have I ever... licked someone's armpit?"
Marinette, Damian, and Liliana cringed all at once. Liliana and Marinette made brief eye contact. A glisten of humor was shown briefly in Liliana's greenish eyes. Marinette almost opened her mouth to say something, but was cut off by a loud screech coming from the opposite side of the room. Ashe, Jon, and Bart were all hysterically pointing at Nova, who had her 'I Had' sign held up. Each person hooted, screaming frantically.
They were all so loud; Marinette wondered if the walls were soundproof in such an old mansion. Most likely, considering how many people were living here. And because of how much money their dad has, he could always renovate whenever he wanted.
"Okay, settle down. And it barely like a lick. It was my newborn nephew's armpit and I was smelling the baby powder, alright? I'm not that one freaking uncle or some weird pedo stuff like that. My mouth brushed against his shoulder, aight?"
"Whatever you say, Baby Powder," Ashe teased, grabbing her bottle of Thai tea.
Nova glared. Ashe playfully blew her a raspberry like a child.
"My turn!" Bart announced. "Never have I ever...... did something illegal?"
Surprisingly, or not, most of the signs went up. Nova drove on the wrong side of the road for a month after visiting her family for summer vacation and almost started a car chase because of it. Jon littered, of course. Bart said something about 'going over the speed limit.' That earned chuckles and groans from some of the other people sitting around.
It must have been a 'them' thing, since Marinette didn't get what was so funny about driving over the speed limit. Did he pay his speeding tickets? Is that the illegal thing he was mentioning? She shrugged, unsure.
(t.b.c) --Part One of Sleepover chapters
I know this is short, but please bear with me - I'm slowly slipping away from the Daminette fandom and I want to continue this books, but not write any more due to my other fanfiction ideas. I will write this and all my other Daminette fics to completion, but for now, please deal with the shorter chapters. My apologies!!
