"Hey, you're Renjun?"
His curious eyes looked at the smaller boy's frame. The boy sure didn't look like a witch's son, he didn't seem like a villain.

"Who else would I be? Stupid."
Well his cold attitude surely resembled it.

Renjun remembers his arrival as clear as the sun shines in a cloud-less sky, he remembers the exact day he got into the castle, he remembers how the whole day went spinning on.
He looked cold at everyone, his instincts telling him he shouldn't believe anyone.

His slim fingers grace the glass of wine he is holding, sending a quiet cheers towards the beautiful night sky. Everytime he starts to reminiscence in his memories his heart starts clutching and his eyes produce more liquid than they should be- he's a villain. They never cry.

"So you're evil?"

"Uh? Duh? That was the whole point I was send here? Stupid boy."

Prince Jeno. The name lingered on his mind for a while now, the name able to make his heart burst into tiny pieces. Renjun lifts the glass up to his red lips and takes a sip from the glass, a big, guilty sip. His whole state is sad, and he'll embrace it.

"Hey no worries- we will change you and make it able for you to live a normal life!"

"Eh."

The only reason Renjun came to this stupid castle was this opportunity. 'To live a normal live'. He drowns the glass of wine and opens the bottle, ready to fill the empty void in the glass- and inside of him. Slowly he leans back on the seat outside on the balcony, allowing to fall deeper into his memories.
"To live a normal life", he murmurs under his breath, watching the sky as the music from the big ballroom carries a fragrance of the inside to his ears. A beautiful, sad melody- he closes his eyes and listens to it. He recognises the melody almost instantly, this was the same melody the small ensemble had played on the ball prince Jeno had told him he'll finally be engaged - to Prince Jaemin. Another name taking up space inside his head.

His eyes twinkled, sparkled with joy as he softly leaned down to Renjun to match his height.
"Since I brought you here", he spoke, "you became one of my deepest friends." Renjun softly nodded, his hands clutching each other in hope of overcoming the boundaries of being friends- he wanted to be more. The music in the ballroom turned more quiet, the melody more sad and simple. As if it was foreshadowing something was missing, a puzzle piece Renjun had overlooked in his hope. The melancholic melody in the background repeated itself.
"You know Jaemin, right?"
Oh. So that was what Renjun had forgotten. Prince Jaemin, another royal boy, another pure, white, good guy. Coincidentally the guy Jeno talked about.
"We will finally be engaged!"

Ah.

Renjun's eyes turned cold, however he kept a small smile up. The sad, sad song repeating again.

"Congratulations",he spoke.

"And congratulations Renjun, for being a fool", he says, opening his eyes and looking into his glass. He drowns it again and empties the whole bottle now inside of it. The night will be long and he is not fond of this night. One of his hands softly rubs against his chest area, as he's starting to feel warmer inside. His fingers touch the material of his gown and he softly smoothes it- although no creases are seen.
