After that Stanley and Jessica teach me how to work the ropes. I guess I was missing the vital running start. Whenever I got stuck one of them would have to swing over and grab me to bring me the rest of the way. The ropes are fairly confusing, because it is sort of a "Tarzan" rope you know just swing from tree to tree, but since the distances are too far it is also like a zip line. Basically you start swinging and then you start moving, so it is two motions in one. That combined with my fear of heights really made this difficult. (It involved a lot of screaming)
After it seems I can get place to place fairly well they start to show me around. The whole camp is in the air to avoid as many attacks as possible. It all looks like a bunch of floating log cabins and wooden platforms. We start at the strange white room that I was in when I first woke up.
"This is where we take the new people," Stanley says, "We have cameras through out the place to keep an eye on them to double check that they aren't zombies. Sansha comes in daily to help them recover from the cut I gave them and any other things they may have picked up in the forest. When she dubs them ready I come in to get them. Which is what I was doing when you nearly killed us both."
I give him a weak innocent smile trying to convince him that it wasn't my fault.
"Moving on." Jessica says seeing the tension growing in between us. "You have all ready seen the dinning hall, so lets show you the meeting area."
We swing from platform to platform until we arrive at the largest cabin in the whole camp.
" You will report here every morning so we can discuss that days plan." Jessica announces.
She opens the door and it is absolutely beautiful in side. It is well furnished with leather couches and chairs. I can't help running up to the first recliner I see, and recline it all the way. Not having seen these for two years it is like heaven sitting in one. Then I spot the far wall. It is covered with weapons all sorts swords, make shift knifes like mine, and weird weapons I have no name for that Rolland must have brought from the Pentagon. In this place I truly feel like a kid in a candy shop. I found a spare hook took out my "knife," which now looked really pathetic, and put it on the wall. For some reason a rush of pride ran through me. I have lasted two years on my own with this knife, and now I have found people I have done it. I survived.
I turn around only to see Jessica and Stanley holding hands looking at me like I am a complete idiot. Feeling fairly embarrassed I dust my self off and walk away as if it never happened "Next." I say nonchalantly.
They show me the hunting platforms and other stuff with little to no importance. Stanley and Jessica keep glancing at me nervously, as if check whether I'm goning to have another "mental breakdown" like I did in the meeting area.
Finally we arrive at one of the various normal cabins. "This is where you will sleep," announces Jessica, "you share with Laylani." With that she and Stanley zip away on the rope/zip lines.
Chapter 5 coming soon.
