Izuku's P.O.V

Phew! I'm half way done with cleaning the beach. Today has definitely been a bit of a rough one. Now just this last trash bag and I'm done for today. I lifted the trash bag over my shoulder and started to walk. Until I heard something rattle to the right of me. I stopped in my tracks and looked over toward the sound. It stopped for a second then started back up again as if something was struggling. 'Oh no! What if it's a dolphin that got caught in the trash?!' I thought as I dropped the trash bag and ran towards the source of the noise. I climbed over the huge pile of trash and found what was making the noise. I looked down and saw something I've never thought I would ever see in my entire life! It was a real life mermaid! But then again it could just be a quirk but it's still so amazing! I looked closer and noticed that she was tangled up in rope and fishing wire. She wiggled around trying to free herself from the restrainments. I climb down from the trash pile and walked around it to get closer. As I got closer I peeked around the corner and watched as she struggled even more but then the fishing line cut her skin as she let out a yelp of pain. I quickly walked out of my hiding spot and rushed over to her but as soon as she saw me she hissed. I froze in place as she growled at me. "I-I'm not gonna h-hurt you I just want to help" I said softly trying to gain her trust, but she just kept growling at me. "Hey I know your in pain and your scared I get it but please let me help you" I said as I walked just a bit closer. She stopped growling and gave me a pained look. She looked at the her body then at me. She nodded towards her f/c tail and I got to work. But it's good to know that she understood me. I pulled out my emergency pocket knife and walked over to her, but as soon as I flipped out my knife she pushed herself back in fear. "Hey its okay I'm just gonna cut the rope ok?" I said lowering the knife and getting closer to her tail. She flinched but stayed put and held her tail up. I got on my knees and started to cut the rope and fishing wire. Cutting the rope was hard but untangling the wire was worse. After getting most of the rope off I noticed that she was becoming dryer by the second and she was looking more pale. So I sped up on cutting the fishing wire so she can get back in the water as soon as possible. I don't know what'll happen if she dries out and I don't wanna find out. Once done I threw away the trash and tore part of my shirt off to patch the cut on her arm. After that she immediately pushed me away and started to crawl over to the ocean. 'Man! She's got some seriously strong arms if she's able to drag herself that fast!' I thought. Once she was in the water she laid on the sand breathing in some water from the gills on her neck. I slowly walked over to her and sat next to her while I pulled up my pant legs up so they wouldn't get wet. She sat back up and looked at me. Then out of nowhere she hugged me I got wet but didn't care. Yet, I was really flustered that I was being hugged by a girl! She let go and stared at my legs. She looked at them with curiosity as she then poked them. I giggled at how cute that was and stood up. "Have you never seen legs before?" I asked looking down at her. She shook her head 'no'. I walked into the water more to the point where the water was up to my knees. She scooted off the sand and floated next to them. She looked at them and then used one of her hands to touch my calf. I blushed and was about to say let go but then she lifted my leg up making me fall backwards. I screamed and waited for the grounds impact but felt arms instead. I looked next to me and saw her holding me. I blushed and covered my face with my hands. Then I felt her gently set me down and grab my leg again. She lifted it up and pointed to my foot looking at me confused. "O-Oh that's my f-foot" I said as she then pointed to my toes. "Those are toes" I blushed. She looked at them and poked my foot. I giggled trying not to startle her by laughing since my feet were ticklish. But then she kept poking it and I burst out laughing. "Please! Stop! That tickles! Hahaha!" I laughed trying to catch my breath but then she continued to tickle me as she smiled. "No wait! Hahaha! Stop!" I shouted laughing uncontrollably. She finally stopped and let go of my foot. I caught my breath and sat next to her. "So what's your name? Or can you not speak?" I asked looking at her. She looked up at me and spoke. "Y-Y-Y/n" she spoke softly but stuttered as if she were speaking for the first time. "That's a nice name mine is Izuku Midoriya but you can call me Deku for short" I said. "W-Why Deku? I-Is that a n-nickname?" Y/n asked. I nodded "Yeah, it is, I got it from a childhood bully of mine, he made that name to basically call me a weakling" I said looking down. She looked at me with a smile and said "I-I think i-it's a name th-that should m-mean h-hero since y-you saved m-my l-life" I looked at her with a smile. "R-Really? You mean that?" I asked feeling happy knowing someone just flipped the whole meaning of Deku. Y/n smiled and nodded. "Thank you! I'll use it as my hero name!" I shouted with glee as she smiled at me. She looked at the setting sun and started to swim deeper into the water. "Wait!" I shouted as she stopped and looked back at me. "C-Can I see you a-again?" I asked nervously. She smiled and nodded "I'll be h-here" she said then swam off as I quickly ran over to my backpack and put it on. I picked up the trash bag and threw it into the dumpster. I ran home and did my normal routine and got into bed. 'I can't wait to see Y/n tomorrow' I thought as I slowly drifted off to sleep.
