I was finally going home! New York City: the best city in the world, to me, of course. I heaved my suitcases out of the elevator of a nice hotel in London and let the cabbie help me put them in the trunk of the taxi. I climbed into the backseat and rested my head back.
London was pretty damn awesome, I had to admit. The sights and smells of England had excited me from the very first time I stepped out of the airport two weeks ago. I had come to visit two of my closest friends, Kerry-Ann and Nafilah, who had moved to England a year ago. It was so awesome that my parents actually let me come by myself, considering I had just turned nineteen. I had a really great time but I was kind of missing home.
I hadn't slept much the night before due to all the partying my friends and I did. Kerry-Ann and Nafilah had taken me to a club in the heart of London. I was legally able to drink in England and I had checked with my parents ("As long as you don't overdo it, you can have a few drinks," my parents had said) so I took a few shots. I didn't get drunk but we certainly danced like we were! I had a massive headache and planned to sleep on the plane.
Just as the cab pulled away from the curb, a familiar song came on the radio.
You're insecure; don't know what for
You're turning heads when you walk through the do-o-or
Oh no, I groaned internally. This song was so annoying, along with the people who sang it. "ONE DIRECTION, HOORAY," I grumbled. They just made me so mad. Most of the girls I knew, even my best friends, Charisse, Sharanya, Nicole, and Vicki, loved them. I had heard enough about these five singing idiots. It was all like "Zayn! Niall! Louis! Liam! Harry!" all the freaking time! I was happy to escape their constant chatter about these people but to my utter dismay, I found out that Nafilah (and Kerry-Ann, who was a secret Directioner and just didn't know it) loved them too! It was practically torture! I mean sure, maybe I thought the curly haired one (Harry, was it?) was sort of cute but still! Thankfully, as I was wrapped up in my thoughts, the song ended. Whew...
After about fifteen minutes, we reached the airport. I paid the driver, took my suitcases, and headed into the airport.

It all went smoothly and soon I was sitting in the tiny airplane, relaxing in my seat. The plane didn't hold much people but there were still only a few seats left on the plane. I was lucky to have found this flight last minute. I closed my eyes, and was thinking about what I needed to do when I got back to New York, when I heard a deep voice. "Hey, love, can you move your bag?"
His thick British accent and deep voice made me feel tingly in my stomach. Wait a second, that voice sounded kind of familiar. I pushed that thought to the back of my head. My eyes popped open as I reached out to move my bag from the seat next to me to my lap.
"So sorry, I forgot I had put that there..." I trailed off as I looked up at the guy. He was gorgeous! The first thing I noticed, other than the mop of thick curls on his head, was his eyes. They were a shocking shade of green that I had never actually seen before. They were like endless fields of green. His face was smooth and looked totally touchable, just like his hair...SNAP OUT OF IT, THAHMENA! I warned myself and looked away as he sat down. He wore a pleasant expression but I could see a hint of anger hidden in his eyes when I was gazing into them.
"It's all good," he said and smiled, looking at me again. Oh my Lord, his smile was so adorable. He had dimples! They made him look childish in a cute, pinch-his-cheeks kind of way. His brown hair was seriously curly and it flopped into his eyes as he sat making him impossibly handsome. The butterflies erupted in my stomach as I felt his presence next to me, looking at me. I decided to introduce myself; it was the polite thing to do!
"Well, then, hi! I'm Thahmena," I said shyly. I held out my hand.
He chuckled lightly and took my hand. I swear I felt electricity run through me as our hands touched. "Hey, I'm Harry Styles."
The realization hit me like a tidal wave. He was THE Harry Styles, as in the one from One Direction. He probably noticed my eyes widen and jaw drop slightly since he chuckled even more as I tried to compose myself.
"Ahem, Harry Styles from One Direction?" I asked in slight disbelief. He nodded. "Well, uh...nice to meet you. But may I ask why you're on a regular plane, with regular people, sitting next to regular ol' me?"
He chuckled but I saw the anger flash through his eyes again. "I missed my flight with the boys," he said simply. "So are you a fan of us? I mean, you sort of recognized me," he said with a small smile.
"Uhhh..." I muttered brilliantly. How was I supposed to tell 1/5 of One Direction that I hated them? Well clearly not Harry anymore but you know... "Sure, you could say that..." I looked away.
The smile on his face had dimmed. He didn't say anything and I instantly felt bad.
I felt the plane start to move and looked out the window to my left. "Goodbye, sweet London," I whispered. I hoped this plane ride with Mr. Hottie would go well, but there was still a tiny feeling in my stomach that felt like a warning...
