"So what did you think?" my redheaded friend, Alice, asked me as soon as I sat down. I looked at her confused and adjusted my tray of food. "What do you mean?" I was a bit lost on the topic of conversation. She groaned, "The game silly. What did you think of the game?". I then got an idea of what she was talking about. "Oh! DDLC?" I asked. That was the abbreviated letter of the game, Doki Doki Literature Club. I had just finished it this past weekend and Alice was excited to hear my thoughts about it. "Yes!" she said. She held much love for this game as if it was her own. I laughed a bit. "It was fun, the ending definitely was not what I expected." she giggled and prodded at her mac n' cheese. "Yeah, I didn't want to spoil it for you.". I opened my drink. "Well thank you for that.". Alice sat back a bit. "What route did you choose? Like which girl?". I thought for a moment and furrowed my brows. "Well I didn't know who to choose. So I tried to divide my time evenly between the girls. It didn't work though." I chuckled remembering the many different scenarios. Alice grabbed her bag. "Yeah, my first time playing I went with Sayori, but then my second time I leaned towards Natsuki. She surprisingly has a much better back story!". I smiled as Alice rambled on about the game. It was nice to see her genuinely happy about something. We continued to talk until our lunch period was over. "Oop- well that's the bell. I have to head to class. Call later tonight?" she said and got up. I got up as well. "Sounds good.". She then hugged me. "Okay, bye!". She ran off and I waved. My day continued as normal with my next class. I sat idly through Chemistry as my teacher tried to cram the hard-to-get facts of Nomenclature into my dead brain. I was supposed to be taking notes, but I didn't really feel like it. Sitting there I started drawing a resemblance of Monika from the game DDLC in my notebook. During my doodling, I must have dozed off too far because my teacher abruptly called my name. "Y/N!" I jumped in my seat startled. I looked up to see his eyes like darts staring at me. Little bouts of giggles and whispers raised in the room. "Y-yeah?" I worried as to what would come next. "I need you to answer number twelve for the class. If you have been taking your notes and paying attention then it shouldn't be a problem," he said folding his hands behind his back. A little part of my dignity left my body and I sighed. "Um well sir, I haven't been taking notes....so I can't answer the question." I shrunk back in my seat. He nodded. "I see.....hand me your notebook.". He put his hand out to me and I paused. "W-what?". "I'm not repeating myself." he shot a glare at me. My other classmates found amusement in my torture as they laughed quietly. I grabbed my book and shakingly handed it to him. "Here...". I said quietly and he opened the book to where I was. After a few seconds of looking at it he loudly announced, "Doodling in my classroom is not allowed!" He then tossed my notebook back down on my desks and went back to teaching. I sighed and went on with class.
After school ended and the bell went off I instantly got up and made a bee-line to the exit of the building. I didn't want to stay there anymore, and I just wanted to be snuggled up in my bed. I got onto the bus and sat in one of the few middle rows. Sitting down, I put my earbuds in and played some music. The bus soon got to my stop and I got off.
I walked to my home and opened the door. As per usual, my father was in the living room playing his guitar. I smiled and shut the door behind me. "Hey pops." I entered the living room. He looked up and smiled at me. "Oh! What's up gummy bear?". He put his guitar down. I sat down next to him tossing my bag to the side. "Nothing much just finished with school..". He nods. "How was it?" he asked. I sighed recalling my incident with Mr. Fields in chemistry. "My chem teacher was being an ass today," I said sitting back. He laughed a bit. "Yeah, well guess what?". I looked at him and was suddenly intrigued. "What?" I asked. He got up and went to the kitchen. "I bought pizza rolls for tonight! Wanna watch the Sandlot with me?". I smiled and followed. "Yes please!". He pulled out the box of those delicious pizza squares. I beamed to see them. "You're the best!". He shrugged and smirked, "I know.". I laughed and he put the box back. "Well squirt, do you have any homework to get done?". He asked and headed back to the living room. I followed, "Sadly yes.". I said and grabbed my bag. "Okay then, get it done quickly and when you're done I'll start cooking them.". I nod. "Okay!" I then headed to my room.Opening the door I walked into my dim-lit room. Everything was just as I left it this morning. My desk was litter with wrappers of candy and chip bags. My trash can is full of trash, and a pile of clothes I have yet to put it up are resting on my bed. Besides that my room is pretty clean. I put my bag aside and go to my desk. I pick up the wrappers and shove them into my trash can. I push it down so they won't fall out. My phone in my pocket then rings. -Must be Alice.- I think to myself and grab it. I answer the call, "Hey girl!" I smile. She squeals on the other end. "Y/N! You'll never guess what happened. I found a forum for code to DDLC. Apparently you can change the Doki's by messing with their code!". She said. I laughed a bit. "What? I mean yeah, I suppose you can do that. Have you tried it?" I asked and turned on my computer that stood on my desk. "No but I have to go, I'll send you the forums so you can try it out! Bye!" she said then hung up. I sat down and chuckled. "Weirdo..." My phone then pinged and I saw that Alice sent me a long message I open it and look through. "This looks complicated as hell.". I'm not a decoder or anything. I'm honestly not even that good with technology. I do like playing games and maybe messing with them along the way. I sigh and follow the instructions to get to the code. Opening it up there's a bunch of green writing. None of it makes sense to me. I start messing with the code and putting in the right information. I then get startled by my hamster, Chewy, who makes a high-pitched scream that rings through my head. "Agh!" I slam my hands down on the keyboard and then cover my ears. Chewy soon stops and I look at him. "Dude, why?". He circles around, obviously not going to respond, and relaxes again. I sigh and my dad walks in. "Everything okay?" he asks. I nod, "Yeah just Chewy.". My dad nods. "Okay then, the pizza rolls are in the old' oven.". I laugh a bit. "Yes!". I get up not thinking much of my messed up code and follow my dad outside. The code then enters itself into my computer and the screen goes black. Looking back I probably should have fixed it, but then again.....maybe not.
