The Infected

In abandoned house Casey is writing in her diary and hears people shooting guns outside, which makes her very nervous but she annoy them, she gets up to go check on her brother. She walks out into the hallway where there's fallen pictures and glass everywhere, she picks up the boxes that fell over from the earthquake last night. She walked in to see him reading a book on his bed,
“What do you think they're doing this time?” Casey askes her borther as she shits down beside him
“Probably another infected, just like the last time” Aiden says like it’s a normal thing that happens everyday.
Casey shakes her head like she knows he's right.  Casey shakes her head
“Well we’re running out of food so we’re gonna have to go out some time” She says picking up Aidens clothes and cleaning up a little bit around his room. Casey walks out of his room into the kitchen.
She tries to turn the water on and it doesn’t work, she signs
“Still no water?” Aiden asks as he comes over to stand by Casey.
“We’re gonna have to go out sometime today or tomorrow” Casey says as she looks at him worried
“We’ll go out tomorrow morning, for now we can use the bottle of water in the basement” Aiden says as he heads to the basement to get the two bottles of water they had saved. Although we have pretty much everything we need, shelter, a safe place to sleep, and each other some people don’t even have anything, then they get infected. If it wasn’t for Aiden's skills for building about anything we would probably be dead by now, he made the fence with electrical outlets to our generator in the basement, meaning if anything hits the fence their toast. Aiden made us a higher ground plate meaning if we have waves of infected people or shooters we have protection from them. Pretty much everything that we have Aiden has built from scratch, I guess he got his skills from dad but hey! I’m not giving him all the credit. I have moms and grandmas cooking and cleaning skills, I try my best to keep everything clean and nice but earthquakes happen and it’s kinda hard when everything falls. I know this is hard for Aiden so I try to keep the house (Shelter place) as clean and normal as possible to make it feel like home…...home, home was nice the fresh smelling air, the sounds of people talking and coming up and down the roads. The yard was the place where my dog Romeo played, the backyard where the trampoline USE to be and where we had cookouts and gilling stuff on the grill. The delicious smell of corn, meats and the time with family. DANG! I snap back into realty, I look over and see in the distances that Mr. Flange just shot his daughter and I ran back inside the house. My back to the door and I start to fall to my knees in tears, I could never imagine what people have to go through. I try and not let the pain come to me because it’s not gonna be like that. We have rules and they keep us safe and we’re about to break RULE #7 Don’t leave the base at all times (Only for really bad causes) and tomorrow morning we are going on an adventure.

Day 49 (After breakout) 6:57a.m Sunrise

The morning is the best time to go out because all the infected are quiet and aren’t out, everyone is sleeping or trying too. It’s also the most beautiful time of the day.
“ You ready…...Let’s go” Aiden says as he has two bags and a shotgun in his hand. I grab my jacket, bag, and book ( My diary). We head to the basement, where the electrical door is. Aiden shuts off the electrical stuff and we count to 3….2….1 GO I run out the door first and Aiden follows and after 5 seconds the electrical comes back on and we check it by throwing a dead bird or chicken and if it frys then it’s on. Which it did, we walked very stealthy, quite, smooth. The store that we're going to is right down the road just a couple houses down. We get past the fence and right when we pass the fence it’s no more protection, no safety. Aiden looks at me before we go, I shake my head yes and we’re off, we’re walking past our neighbors and used to be friends' houses, all the memories are coming back from late night walks to fun in the sun. It’s hard to throw everything away but some have it more easily than others. We get about 5 houses away from our safe place and the store is just a little farther, we’re walking in blood and bones from people shooting each other. Everything was so quiet then out of nowhere we heard the sounds of motorcycles coming down the road. Aiden and I sprant for the bushes
“GET DOWN!” Aide yells pushing my head down.
I peek through the leaves of the bushes and I see Smoke Breathers, 7 or maybe 11 of them zoom past us, the last one has a cage on the back of his motorcycle and a girl screaming bloody mary for help.
I look at Aiden and he starts to get teary eyed, he whispers very shakely “That was Macy” A tear goes down his cheek, Macy was the nice, innocent girl that everyone loves to have around, she would come over all the time and help me with homework and tell me advice. Her and Aiden had a very strong connection, when the outbreak happened she was at her aunt's house but somehow she must have come back before stuff went down.
“We have to keep moving, the sun is getting higher,” Aiden says, ripping his tears.
The store is two houses down so we start to walk a little fast, up on the door are three locks and Aiden has all of them due to inexplicable reasons . He opens the door and dust flies everywhere, making me cough a little. We walk in and see that everything looks about the same from last time, since we are the only ones that use the store really.
“I’m gonna get the water, you can get food and supply” Aiden says as he walks to the freezers. I look around at all the dry foods and canned foods, I get our favorite things Chips, Crackers, fruit snacks, soups, etc. I get some frozen food pizza, ice cream (of course) and some other things. I get toiletries, Tampons for me, underwear for both and socks, shampoo, soap, more things like that. After a couple of minutes we’re ready to go again but this time we take a shopping cart because we have a lot of things, mostly to keep us inside for a while. We're walking down the road and I know that Aidan wants to say something or something is bothering him.
"Is it Macy?" I ask looking up at him
"It doesn't matter" He says acting like he isn't hurt by it
I know Aiden is trying to act all cool in front of me but I already hear him crying at night but I don't day anything. I think Aiden acts brave around me because hes 4 years older then me but he doesn't need too. I'm 15 and hes 19 and I know he doesn't want me to be worried but I just want him to be safe. We just up to the fance and he hits a button on his belt and the fance opens, we go in and he closes it
"You go first" Aiden says telling me to go up the ladder
I go up and I see him walk over and pulls out a cigarette, now that makes me worried but I don't say anything and I go unpack everything that we got. After a bit Aiden comes up and goes in his room and that ends the night with the crazy adventures. As I go in my bedroom, I see the only picture of our family before mom left, It was fall and we took family pictures, dad was so happy and that was the last time I actually saw Aiden smile. I look in my closet and see my dads old flannle and his work boots and everything still smells like him. I miss that smell.....A tear rolls down my cheek as I smell the flannle and remember the time when the earthquake started and the look on my dads face, as the ground split us apart and he went down in the rocks. Aiden believes that he didn't make it but I still believe that he's still here, he's just lost. My room is kinda falling part but my walls are dark purple because it's my moms favortire color and my bed as stans but it works I guess, I have one small window with purple curtans and some pictures on my wall of my friends and family but their kinda ripping, and a desk where I write down what i'm feeling and draw my heart out on paper. Most the time it's pretty quite, other then the gun shots we hear sometimes and the screams we hear at night. Some nights if it's quite enough i'll go to the top of the roof, lay down and look up at the stars and start to write about whatever comes to my mind and if i'm lucky enough maybe the flyerflies will come out and light up the sky. That's the only beauitful thing that I love, or the sunrise of a new day. The world might be falling apart but there is still some beauty behide every dark place. You just have to be brave enough to find it, and you look at it long enough to love it.
