School was feeling longer than usual, probably because I couldn't stop thinking about tonight. My friend, Meg, is taking me to go see some band named Sunset Curve at Orpheum.  Class was finally let out. While  I was heading to my last class, I got a text from Meg saying to meet her by her locker.

When I got there she had a look on her face telling me she had a plan for something, but I'm not sure what. " y/n!" she said with an excited tone. She grabbed my hand and started speed walking towards the exit.

"Hey, where are we going?" I said trying to not fall

"We're skipping"

"Wait what?!"

"The boys are going to be at the venue early...so I was thinking we leave right now and cross our fingers and hope we can meet them." She said pushing the front doors of the school open.

"I don't know about this" I said, taking my hand out of her grip and stopping in place.

"You're telling me you rather sit in class for another hour being bored out of your mind than meet Sunset Curve?" she said turning around

Meg's right. Plus I never do anything exciting, like never. Once she asked me if I wanted to go to Seattle with her and her family, but it was during school. And I choose school. What was wrong with me. I could have had so much fun over there, but now I chose to be stuck in school. And that's going to change now.

"Yeah, ok let's go"

"Yes!" there was excitement in her tone

We had to stop by our house to change and drop off things. Lucky for us we lived right next to each other. That's how we became friends.

Meg and her family just moved into the neighborhood. And once a month my family had a block party. I had to be the one to go leave the flyers on people's doors. When I first met Meg, She and her mom were moving boxes into their house.

I walked over, flyer in hand. " Hey, excuse me. I just wanted to say welcome to the neighborhood. Um... I just came over here to invite you and your family to my parents annual block party." I said handing her the paper.

She grabbed it and while looking at it she called over Meg. Who was walking out of the house, with a trash bag in her hand. She threw it away and went over to her mom.

"Yeah" she said

"Hey sweetheart , --  I'm sorry i didn't catch your name." Her mom said turning to me

"Oh yeah sorry. I'm y/n"

"Well y/n, I'm Mary Whittemore"

"Hello Mrs.Wit-" I started

"Oh honey please call me Mary" she said in a loving tone

I nodded. I was quiet for a few seconds. Mary started to say something.

"This is my daughter ,Meg" she said putting Meg in front of her.

"Hey" we both said at the same time then giggled

"Meg, Y/n here has invited us to a block party on Saturday, do you want to go?"

"Uh... sure" Meg said with a smile

After the block party, we started to hang out a lot at each other's houses. We become super close, and just became best friends. She helps me get out of my comfort zone every now and then. She has her moments where she can be a bit much but it makes everything more interesting.

It was around 3 by the time we started to head over to the venue. Meg has seen them in concert before and I'm pretty sure she's in love with the bass player. Reggie, I think that's what she said her name was. She couldn't stop talking about him on the way there.

We hopped on the bus that would take us a few blocks from the venue but its going to be a while before we get there.
