Gasping for air she tried to keep her body up and swam to the side of the pool. When she tried to pull herself out of the pool, that so kindly caught her from her fall, she heard another splash to her left. Swiping the hair out of her face she looked over and saw something black in the pool next to her.
A few seconds later the young man's head peaked out of the water. His black hair partly covering his eyes. He also pulled himself out of the water and got up. His clothes now completely soak clung to his body. With a swift move, he combed the hair out of his face and looked at the girl still sitting on the edge of the pool.
"Get up. We don't have much time now.", he grabbed the holster from the ground where he must have thrown it before jumping down.
She got up and her light blue dress now a darker color than before felt a bit heavier.
"We?"
"Yes, they will associate us now. Will probably say I kidnapped you.", his gaze searched the surroundings for an easy way out of the gardens.
There was a small unlit pathway between two high bushes. It looked like it was not used much. This way would probably lead to the backend of the property, where they could hopefully find an easy way to leave.
"Come on", he grabbed her arm and made his way to the small path. His grip was not hard or forceful, but she knew immediately that if she should try to escape this grip it would turn as strong as solid stone.
The path was dark, a bit of light from the bridely lit mansion gave signs of the pathway. It was narrow and some bushes had overgrown, making it even smaller sometimes. They followed the path, grateful for the darkness that could give them at least a bit cover from possible eyes close by.
They both stayed on high alert while they tried to stay as silent as possible and move quickly at the same time. She could hear loud talking coming from the gardens behind them and she could feel the man quicken his pace even more.
But then she saw something just a few meters away move towards them.
"Watch out!", she whispered, tucked on his arm, and almost threw herself in the partly overgrown bush on her right.
As expected his grip around her arm tightened at her sudden movement, but he must have seen it as well and also pressed himself to the side. He strategically placed himself in front of her, as to hide the blue of her dress and blend in with the darkness of the bushes.
Steps were coming closer towards them, the person, a man according to his voice, was talking to other guards over a mobile radio.
The girl clasped her hands over her mouth as if she was afraid to even breathe too loud and be heard by the guard. The young man looked down at her and pushed them even deeper into the leaves, trying to make sure that there was enough space for the guard to normally walk through. When the guard passed them she could see that even the man in front of her held his breath. Luckily he passed them without paying much attention to his surroundings. After making sure that he was out of reach both let out a long breath.
The young man grabbed her arm again, "Let's go. Before he comes back."
Quickly they got back onto the pathway, a lot of leaves now in her hair and some twigs pulled lightly on her dress. The little pathway led to a small shed right next to the fence that enclosed the property. This shed probably was a place where they held the gardening utensils. If they could find a way to get up there, they could jump over the fence.
"I will help you get up there", he said while glancing down at the not so tall girl.
She looked at him a little concerned, but there was not much else she could do right now. "Okay... "
