Shinjuku city, a city that never sleeps. It either hypes you up or eats you away.

Unfortunately for Doppo Kannonzaka, it's the latter of the two.

Different kinds of people filled up the train on a weekday morning; students, office workers alike. Each and everyone of them heading to different establishments riding a train to the next station.

Doppo heaved a sigh as his eyes glanced all over the train. It was another day, another tiring day.

He could almost guarantee that his boss will yell at him again, what did he even do? As far as he knows, he's been as diligent as he could be. Working overtime, making reports, doing presentations, he's done it all. We're his effort in vain? Then what's the point? What's the point of even working at all? He'll just get yelled at, for his fault and the other's. Of course, who is he kidding? It's always his fault, his fault. his fault...

"Sir, are... are you alright?" Doppo heard as voice.

Is the voice calling him? Who would even interact with him in the first place? He's just your average salary man, a corporate slave, he's not worth anything. He's just another pawn in the industry, an industry that rewards nothing but the people on top. Why was he even working hard? Haaah, loyalty to the company wasn't even rewarded. Was he just kidding himself? Why did he let himself fall into this bland and monochromatic cycle. It's his fault, his and only his...

"Sir, you're making me worry, are... are you alright?" Doppo heard the same voice again, yet this time he felt someone tapping his shoulder.

"I- O-oh, yeah." Doppo muttered under his breath, turning to look away. He felt so embarrassed. Was he really doing that in public?

"Here, take this. I think you need it more than I do." The same voice called out to him again.

This time, Doppo turned to look at the person who was talking to him.

She wore a similar attire to him, she looks like your typical office worker. A blouse of her chosen color under a gray blazer, paired with a black pencil skirt. She had [hair color] hair with a pair of tired [eye color] eyes.

Doppo recognized her, she was the girl that was always leaning by the door. It was dangerous, Doppo noted that. Other than that, she was just like him; a tired office worker.

"N-no thanks! It's yours, you bought it so you should drink it." Doppo muttered under his breath in a hushed tone.

"Come on, it's nothing. I've been seeing you a lot lately, muttering to yourself so I was worried." She explained.

Doppo could feel his ears go red with embarrassment, did he really do that? To be fair, he kind of expected that. Of course, he's an embarrassment, even to himself.

"Oh... Sorry." Doppo apologized and bit his lip, a lot of people had told him to quit his habit of apologizing for everything, but old habits die hard, don't they?

"Ahahah, it's nothing–" She was then cut off by the speakers coming to life, only to announce that they've reached the next station.

"I guess I'll see you around, sir Kannonzaka!" She said as she gathered her things, preparing to leave.

"By the way, I work at the building right across your company. Let's get get donner together later~" She said as she got off the train.

Within a minute, the door closed and the train departed from the station. Doppo who was left shocked and speechless stood unmoving on the train.

Once he gathered his thoughts together, he dialed Hifumi. He's sure that his friend would be more than enthused with this news.

"Hifumi?" He called out which was responded to by the aforementioned man with a hyped up "Doppochin!!~"

"I don't know how it happened but I think I have a date tonight...?" He spoke into his phone.

Doppo had to pull his phone away from his ear as Hifumi– as expected– made a fuss over it.

"Ehh? Soooo?~ who's the lucky g-g-girl?~" Hifumi asked, stuttering a little bit towards the end.

"Oh... I didn't get her name..." Doppo answered as the realization sunk in.

However another kind of realization sunk in as the speakers were again resonating throughout the train, announcing that they're nearing the next station.

'Of course,' Doppo sighed dejectedly. 'A day where nothing inconvenient happens would only be a dream.'

For the umpteenth time that morning, Doppo sighed.

Of course he'd miss his stop.

He's a hundred percent sure he'd be yelled at today– not that it was not part of his daily routine by now.

But hey, at least, he has something to look forward to at the end of the day.
