Chapter Three - Closer

Ibuki's POV: "Schools over!" I exclaim while running over to Mikan. Our final classes of the day have ended and we were free to go home.

"Y-yeah!" She replies. Mikan smiled as she stood in front of me. I smiled as well.

"Well, I guess we have to get going." I explained, the smile from her face disappearing.

"O-oh.. okay..!" She responded.

"I'll cya tomorrow, Tsumiki!" I wave to her before leaving the building. She shyly waves back, not moving until I leave.

I walk out of the school and wait for my bus to arrive, realizing that Mikan had followed me out of the school.

"Mikan, what're you doing here?" I asked, curious. "Don't you have to get home?"

"A-actually I t-take this bus too!" She tells me with a smile.

"Awesome! Do you want to sit next to me?"

"S-sure!" Mikan replies, slightly blushing. I smile, and we wait for our bus. I watch as the trees surrounding our school wave in the wind, their green leaves moving with them.

I watch as the bus pulls right in front of us and I wait for the doors to open. I walk up to the doors as they open, but before I can get on the bus, I see Mikan in the corner of my eye. I realized she had tripped! I turned to face her as she fell, and ran up behind her.

"Hey, are you okay?" I worriedly asked her as I caught her. She froze for a few seconds, our eyes locked. I watched as her light purple eyes sparkled while looking up at me, realizing what had just happened.

"I-I'm so s-sorry! How embarrassing, I-I tripped!" Mikan acknowledged. She closed her eyes as she blushed. I helped her to her feet, and lended my hand to her. She carefully took my hand, feeling her soft palm intertwine with mine. I got on the bus, leading Mikan to sit with me in the back of the bus. As we sat, our hands still holding, the bus started driving us home.

Mikan's POV: She caught me.. When I tripped, I fell right into her arms. My eyes locked with hers. Her beautiful hair stayed afloat in the warm air, the sun shining down on us. I felt my heart throb as blush dusted my face. I felt safe in her arms. I watched as she grew a caring smile on her face. That feeling.. That feeling I felt when Ibuki held me.. I felt comforted. No, I felt.. Loved..

"Here's our stop!" Ibuki informs me as we hop out of the bus, our hands returning by our sides. Ibuki walked with me as we walked to our houses.

"T-this is my house!" I let Ibuki know.

"Okay, Tsumiki! I'll cya tomorrow!" Ibuki said with rejoice. "I hope we can become best friends!"

Best friends..?

I was already making friends?

I smiled and waved to her as she walked away. I blushed. I felt overjoyed after hearing her say those words. Best friends..

I walked into my house, shutting the door behind me. I ran up to my room and jumped face first into my bed. I've never been so happy before! Maybe this new school wouldn't be so bad, after all, I had Ibuki.
