Alex's POV
I'm currently in a helicopter with Fury on our way to the S.H.I.E.L.D base because the tesseract is acting up again. So once we've landed we were accompanied by Agent Coulson. I get out first with Fury and Agent Hill following.
"How bad is it?" Directer Fury asked Coulson, walking up behind him. "That's the thing, sir. We don't know." Coulson responds, taking off his glasses.
The four of us then proceed walking into the building, we get in the elevator, and down to the garage level.
"Dr. Selving read an energy source from the tesseract about four hours ago." Coulson informs us while we walk into the lab, through the garage.
"NASA didn't authorize Selving to go to test phase." Fury says. "He wasn't testing it. He wasn't even in the room, spontaneous event." Replies Coulson "It just turned itself on?" I asked "Where are the energy levels now?" Fury asks, ignoring my question.
"Climbing. When Selving couldn't shut it down, we ordered evac." Coulson responds "How long to get everyone out?" Fury asks "Campus should be clear in the next half-hour." Coulson says
"Do better." Fury tells him, Coulson nods and then walks in the opposite direction to proceed with the evacuation.
"Sir, the evacuation may be futile." I start as we head down the stairs to the lab.
"We should tell them to go back to sleep." Fury sarcastically says.
"If we can't control the tesseract's energy, there may not be a minimum safe distance. I couldn't even try to control with my magic." I respond
"I need you to make sure the phase 2 prototypes are shipped out." He orders me "Sir, is that really a priority right now?" I ask.
"Until such time as the world ends we will act as though it intends to spin of." Fury explains as I follow him the stairs, to enter the lab.
"Hill, can you handle that?" I ask her, "Shouldn't be a problem." She responds, then walks towards the group of agents.
"Talk to me doctor" Fury says to Dr. Selvig as we enter the lab.
"Director, Agent Henderson" Dr. Selvig greets us and walks over to us. "Is there anything we know for certain." Fury asked "The tesseract is misbehaving." Selvig informs us as a scientist pokes the cube with a stick.
"Is that supposed to be funny?" Director asks, "No it's not funny at all. The tesseract is not only active, she's behaving." Selvig says as we walk over to the cube
"I'm assuming you pulled the plug" I asked, "she's an emergency source. We turn off the power she turns it back on. If she reaches peak level..." Selvig gets cut off by fury.
"We prepared for this Doctor. Harnessing energy from space." Fury explains to him
"But we don't have the harnesses. My calculations are far from complete. And she's throwing off interference, radiation. Nothing harmful, low levels of gamma radiation." Selvig informs us
"That can be harmful" I say, "Where's Agent Barton?" Fury asks, "The hawk? Up in his nest as usual." He says, motioning to Clint Barton.
"Agent Barton report." I say into my earpiece to Barton. He comes sliding down ropes, and walks over to Fury and I.
"I gave you this detail so you could keep a close eye on things" Fury informs him.
"Well i see better from the distance." Barton states as we walk to the tesseract
"Have you seen things that might set this thing off?" I ask
No one's come or gone. And Selvig' clean. No contacts, no IM's. If there was any tampering, it wasn't at this end." He informs us.
"At this end" Fury quotes
"Yeah the cube is a doorway to the other end of space, right? Doors open from both sides." And just as Clint says that the tesseract starts to spike, and bam towards the other end of the room.
