They watched the anarchy their civilization had collapsed into from the inside. Fires, shattering glass, screaming, all combined to create a horrible symphony of chaos and destruction. War was truly a horrible thing that left the Earth itself with wounds that would heal slowly, if ever. Those involved surely thought the gunfire, bombs, and aircraft would bring the end of the world. And for some it would be true. It would be the end of their world. The survivors would have to rebuild their homes from the ashes, and civilization from savagery.
The world would know what happened. The world would know why it happened. And the world would never again underestimate the power of the youth.
