I am gonna tell you some fun facts-
Halloween is an Irish Celebration
It's actually supposed to be celebrated on November 1st
In Irish Oíche Shaumhna translates to Halloween Night
The November 1st celebration is actually named Samhain, which is also our word for November
Samhain was originally created because,in Celtic times, in the winter a lot of the young children would die, of different diseases. So in order to keep everyone happy, the Druids told them a story, that on the 1st of November, the Fairy's were coming into there homes and, stealing their children, and swapping the week fairy children. And that their child was still alive, and was off having fun. So in order to stop these "Fairies" on the 1st of November, they would dress up there children. Personally I don't know where trick or treating comes from, but I think that may be just a bit of Fun-
In Ireland, instead of Pumpkins we used to use Turnips. Because pumpkins don't grow here and well turnips do!
Again they carved faces into Turnips to scare away evil-
There is also a bit about a bonfire that I can't remember, (I am also pretty sure I am the only one in my class that remembers all of that)
