The crunching leaves under foot could hardly be heard over the sound of her pounding heart that echoed in her ears as she ran. What she was running from, she couldn't tell you what it is or called, because she didn't know what it was. Questions were running through her head faster than she was running, 'What caused it to follow me?' 'Why me?' 'Am I going to die?'. Dodging trees while trying to remember anything that she knew about hostile creatures.
The beast that was chasing and hunting her down to hurt or in the worst case, kill her. She knew that she should not have come on this damn cursed camping trip, she should have never agreed when something felt so off in her gut. The growling and snarling seemed to be right on top of her. As more panic started to set into her bones, she lost her footing causing her to tumble into a fairly deep ditch scratching up her arms, legs and back as she braced herself for the landing covering her face. Gasping for breath that was knocked out of her as she pulled herself up onto her knees, pressing her sore lightly bleeding back into the wall of the ditch. The growling coming from the large fur covered beast seemed to stop and a little bit of falling dirt hit her in the face. It was right on top of her, sniffing the air, smelling for her.
Her heart got caught in her throat almost as if she was choking on it when the creature was crawling around the top of the ditch when a loud bang echoed seemingly making the earth around her shake, the beasts attention snapped in that direction. It's attention was now off of her and heading off back the way that she had came from.
A sigh of relief came from her as she partially relaxed Against the earth behind her when something crossed her mind, once again panic started to set in 'That noise, it came from the campsite! People must have come looking for us!' Clawing her way out of the ditch, using a tree to help her stand on her aching legs to start a long painful trip back moving as fast as her sore, bruise covered legs would carry her, making her way through trees trying not to stumble into any with blurred eyes. Hoping that whoever that these people where had been able to overpower and kill that monster, find her dead friends that had been thrown around the clearing or at least what was left of them. You might have been able to make half a person from what was left of five people.
The trip back took much longer than she expected, noise from the camp had died out about twenty minutes ago leaving only noise of her walking, breathing and the normal ambiance of the woods. When the clearing finally came into view, the slight of it caused her to choke back a sob as she took in the sight of more bodies littering the once green beautiful field now stained red. In the middle of all that chaos sitting tall, the sun was dipping past the trees behind the massive beat. It was just looking at her actually looking, staring, waiting and watching for the right time to end her. She realized that it was only toying with her.
A second sob escaped from her, tears welling up in her eyes blurring further her already blurred vision, knees starting to tremble threatening to give out from under her, all hope that she had of being saved was dead before her, in the clearing. Every hope that she did have of living past this nightmare left her, she only wished that it would now end or that she would wake up with her friends alive around her.
Gathering what was left of her strength she stood as tall as she could, taking a deep breath pushing down the burning pain in her chest to stare down that massive blood covered beast. Drawing up all of her anger she spoke as steady as she could "Then just kill me, stop playing with me you sick bastard." it punched from its spot to her in a matter of seconds taking her head clean off of her body in one clean bite. The soft thud from her body hitting that soft plush grass sounded through the clearing as the last light disappeared under the horission.
