3rd pov
Yuko looked away from the villagers his jaw tight.
"They're scared of something they don't understand."
Naruto frowned. "Scared of me?"
Yuko was silent for a long moment.
"...Yes."
"Why?"
Yuko's hand rested gently on Naruto's head.
"Because years ago something terrible happened to this village."
Naruto waited.
"People who are hurting sometimes choose someone to blame."
"So... it's my fault?"
"No."
Yuko's answer came instantly.
"Listen to me, Naruto. Whatever happened before you were born... is not your fault."
Naruto searched his face.
"Then why won't anyone tell me?"
Yuko's expression darkened.
"Because the adults made that decision for you. Someday you'll learn the whole story but when you do I want it to come from someone who owes you the truth not from the mouths of people who hate you."
