| "I could lift you up / I could show you what you want to see / And take you where you want to be / You could be my luck / Even if the sky is falling down / I know that we'll be safe and sound." | - CAPITAL CITIES
My gaze shifts from the sky and back to Kirishima, and he's looking upward, amazed and the masterpiece that the world painted for us. He looks so youthful; he's so engulfed in the sight above us that I'm pretty sure he doesn't notice me staring at him. His crimson hair shines in the dulling sunlight, and his eyes reflect the setting sun above us.
He's gorgeous.
"Let's ditch." He says, his eyes still set watching the sky. "W-what?" I ask, confused. "Let's go do our own thing! I'll text Denki and let him know we're fine so they don't freak out." He says, finally turning toward me. His bright, pointed smile is spread across his face. "There's a ferris wheel and other fun stuff on the pier that's just a few blocks away! Wanna go?" He asks, and he's obviously excited. How could I say no?
"I'll go anywhere as long as I'm with you." I say as I punch him lightly in the arm. He may take it as a joke, but I meant what I said. "The feeling is mutual, darlin'." He says as he winks at me, and he quickly pulls me in the direction of the pier. I start to giggle at his child-like excitement, and I have to admit, this is the most fun I've had in awhile.
We walk on the sidewalk, hand-in-hand. Kirishima uses his free hand to text Kaminari to let him know that we're fine; just having our own adventure. We see a few familiar faces, and Kiri and I give a friendly wave to each of them. A little girl, who looks to be about six or seven, runs up to Kiri and smiles at him, and we stop walking. Kirishima squats down to match her height, and he smiles back at her.
"What's up, little lady?" Kiri asks, and she giggles. "Red Riot! Could I get a picture with you pretty please?" She asks, and a woman, who I assume is her mom, walks up to them with a smile on her face and a cell phone in her hand. "Absolutely!" Kirishima says, and the little girl smiles even wider, and poses herself with Kirishima as they face the woman with the cell phone. The woman takes the picture and the little girl leans in to hug Kirishima, and I feel my heart flutter at the cuteness of the entire situation.
"Thank you!" The woman and little girl say in unison, and Kirishima beams his signature smile at them. "No problem! Have a good one!" He says as he waves at the little girl. He turns to face me, and I can't hide my smile. "Kiri, that was the cutest shit I have ever seen!" I say, and he laughs at my confession. "I love it when kiddos come up to me like that! It's probably my favorite part of my job, actually." He says, and I would expect nothing less from him.
We continue walking down the sidewalk toward the pier, and the huge ferris wheel towers above us as we near the entertainment area. The sky is growing darker by the minute, and only slivers of fading sunshine are on the horizon. Hand in hand, we walk under the entrance of the pier and into the world of fun. Flashing lights greet us with various colors, and the smell of cotton candy and popcorn is in the air. My stomach grumbles at the scent, and I'm pretty sure Kirishima can hear it.
"Whoa! It smells so good here! We should get something to snack on!" He suggests, and I nod. "I will never say no to food!" I say, and he chuckles. "That's just one of the many things I love about you." He says, and I feel my face heat up. We walk up to one of the vendors and he buys us a pink and blue swirled cotton candy, which we pull pieces off of and shove in our mouths. After a few bites, Kirishima sticks his tongue out at me, and his tongue is tinted a bright blue shade. I stick my tongue back out at him and we both chuckle at our matching tongues.
My giggles are interrupted by my phone, which vibrates in my pocket. I take my phone out of my back pocket and look at the screen and see a text message notification from Mina. 'Have fun you guys ;)', the text message reads. I roll my eyes at the alien girl's message and put my phone back in my pocket. "Everything okay?" Kiri asks. "Oh, yeah! It's just Mina being, y'know, Mina." I say and he smiles and nods. "I definitely understand that! Gotta love her, though." He says, and I agree. She might be a little wild, but our friend group wouldn't be the same without her.
"So, what should we do?" I ask, and he looks like he's pondering some options. "Well, we could go on the ferris wheel or another ride, we could play some games, we could feed some birds. It doesn't matter to me, I just wanna make sure you're having fun!" He says, and I can't help but smile. "I haven't been on a ferris wheel in years! Let's do that!" I say, and his face lights up. "I was hoping you'd say that! I love ferris wheels! You can see everything from up there!" He says as he points to the top of the wheel.
"Alright then! Lead the way!" I say to him, and he squeezes my hand tightly.
Things are looking up.
