My heart is exploding out of my chest, my hands sweating. I'm walking down Landon Avenue with the gang on the way for my first fight. The boys tell me of the fierce rivalry with Blythe Street gang ever since we formed. Our territories are right next to each other and both gangs are always trying to gain possession over Sepulveda Boulevard.

We turn onto Roscoe Boulevard without me even noticing. My head buzzing like a bee with nerves. I can't even pay attention to the situation that surrounds me. Before I even know it, I am in the middle of the fight. Punches and kicks are thrown everywhere. My petite body got hit in the stomach and I fell to the ground like and gigantic elephant hunted in the wild.

I'm back at our base without even knowing how I got back here. It's been four hours since the start of the fight and I don't even know where the time has gone. The boys help me fix my cuts and grazes. They are like family, always looking out for me.
