Luck's life was going well so far. He had gotten great clothes made by his mother, amazing food from his father, and many gifts when others came to see him. His 3rd birthday would be coming up in a few days, and that would be the best day of his life, or so everyone thought it would be...

"Spar, where is Luck? I thought he was in his crib." Sunshine spoke in a panicked, yet calm way, knowing that Luck would be around the house.

Spar looked back at Sunshine, trying to see if Luck was behind her, or if she was just playing with him. "Sorry hun, but no, I haven't seen him. I thought he was with you?"

Both parents took off, searching the house for their beloved Luck. Sunshine looked under the beds, in the living room, and in other open spaces or places toddlers could squeeze into. Spar, on the other hand, was looking in tight spaces, in case Luck had gotten a power of some sort to sneak into those small spaces.

After about an hour of looking, they took a small break to evaluate what places they have and haven't looked. Where could the little toddler be? How was he this quiet? Did he run off? How did he get out of the crib.....? THE CRIB! The ONE place they didn't look!

They both took off running into Luck's room, trying to get to the crib and see if he was there. And, sure enough, Luck was there, standing, holding onto the bars keeping him in the secured bed.

"Hi mummy!" Luck, all happy, blushing with a heartwarming smile, had been waiting for Sunshine and Spar to wake him up, but they must have thought they would let him sleep in.

Sunshine looked relieved and more relaxed now that she knew her son was ok. She looked down into his clover-green eyes, picked him up, and nuzzled his nose against hers. "Hello, Luck! Good morning my little lucky clover! How was your sleep?"

Luck smiled, still not knowing how to say things like everyone else. All he knew how to say was "Hi mummy" and "Hi daddy" Any toddler would know how to say those things, but Luck only learned how to talk just days before, due to his condition.

Spar, normally caring very minimally, smiled at his son's smile. Luck was pushing and getting thelrough his condition well! The doctor had told them that he wouldn't have many months left to live, but years had passed, and he was doing better than when he was diagnosed with the condition.

Just a few days later, it was finally Luck's birthday! The little 3 year old had gotten many presents. They all entertained him for a long time. He had gotten a small beach chair, a coloring book with colored pencils, a new blanket, and a few others, but his favorite one that he had been holding onto since he opened it, was a blue, stuffed bufferfly. The silky texture brushed against his face, his eyes growing wider as he realized how soft and calming it was.

Luck let out many giggles as Sunshine and Spar talked about the new house they were looking at a few weeks before. Spar looked back at Luck and smiled, the first time that he ever smiled in front of Sunshine.

"Was that a smile I just seen?" Sunshine asked in a happy and questionable way. She was surprised that Spar had a sort of "weakness" to Luck's giggles.

"N-NO! I'm not smiling! It was just a...... a-"

"Its ok. I loved that smile! Don't be ashamed of it!"

Spar blushed. He was never this flattered before. He always thought his smile was bad and embarrassing, but seeing Sunshine smile and compliment him made his day.

A few hours passed, and there was a loud noise in the sky. It was targeting for their house! It seemed like it was coming pretty fast, and it wasn't slowing down! They had to get Luck out of there!

"Spar! Get Luck! I contacted Mint! She will be here to get Luck to a safe place!" Sunshine, filled with fear and determination, gave the instructions to Spar clearly.

As Spar headed outside to give Luck to Mint, she was right there outside, waiting. But why didn't Sunshine want to save herself? Spar decided to run back in to save her, but as soon as he put his arms around her, she whispered, "I'm sorry.... Spar, please, don't let me go on my own...."

"Of course not. I'll always risk my life for yours, even if I have to go with you." Spar knew that she was expecting this to happen. He wouldn't judge her decisions.

They hugged tightly together, praying that Mint got away a good distance from the house with Luck. They didn't want their son to go out of this world so soon.

The last things that were seen were the house walls, memories of Luck on the walls. All of his pictures and crafts hung on the walls. The memories flooded back as the crashing object crushed their house, with them along with it. Luck's parents were no more....

Their wishes.....

"Luck, please, grow up to be brave, strong, and happy like you are now.... we love you.."
