"Tasha! Let's go! You're gonna be late for school!" Tasha's mother called out to her while dealing with her fussy six month old son.
Skipping down the stairs, Tasha emerged wearing jean pants, a light purple sweater and black converse. Heading over to the fridge, she grabbed and apple and stuck it in her lunch bag.
"Remember to come home right away today, I need you to watch Charlie while I go to work." Her mother said as she was bouncing Charlie on her hip, trying to make him calm down.
"Fine." Tasha grumbled. "Why can't you get a baby sitter?"
Her mother gave her a look. "We've been over this before, we don't have the money for a sitter."
Tasha rolled her eyes as she smacked her lips together. "Okay, fine. I'll be here."
"Thank you." Her mother said as Tasha headed towards the door. "Love you!"
"Yep!" Tasha called out in annoyance while shutting the door.
Feeling the brisk cool autumn air in October, Tasha walked down the normal path that she took to school every day. Popping in her earphones, she jammed out to her music on her iPod with not a care in the world, only to be watched by someone in a tan SUV.
She soon arrived at school just in time before the first bell rang. Walking into homeroom, she saw her best friends Leah and Chloe.
"Hey girls." Tasha said while sitting down in her chair.
"Hey." They both said.
"Oh, Tasha! You're coming over to my house after school today, right?" Chloe asked.
"No, I can't. I have to babysit."
"Ugh! Lame!" Leah sighed. "Wait, why can't your mom get a sitter?"
"That's exactly what I asked!" Tasha said. "But she claims we don't have the money for a sitter."
"But Brett is gonna be there." Chloe said.
"Brett?" Tasha asked, getting nervous.
Brett was the star football quarterback who Tasha had a crush on since the seventh grade.
"Yeah but too bad, you'll be babysitting." Chloe teased.
"I'll think of something." Tasha said, winking. "Don't worry."
