I woke up just a bit a go. Our family was coming over for dinner tonight- the perfect time to tell them. I look down and rub my belly. I can't believe our wish has finally come true. Alex called the doctor and we were in luck. We had our first ultrasound tomorrow.
We had a pretty large family. There was my mom and dad. My twin brother and sister- Taylor and Tyler. They were about thirteen. My older sister Lyla, her husband Eric, and their two year old daughter, Addison were planning on joining. Then there was Alex's parents. Their two daughters- Daisy was seven, and Megan was eleven- were coming, too. His older brother Adam, was bringing his wife Mya, and their daughters- the triplets- Rachel, Stephanie, and Tessa. They were about three, so Addy will have a good time playing with them.
I honestly couldn't wait until we could share the great news. I hoped they were happy for us.
They should start showing up around four or so. Because some of us have food allergies, we are fixing a perfect dinner, free from any foods we are allergic to. We are having a chef salad as an appetizer with the main coarse being pot roast and vegetables. The sides are fried lemon pepper cabbage and mashed potatoes.
We go over-the-top for family dinners because there are so many of us. My mom and dad are even coming earlier to help us cook. We enjoy the little bit of family time that we get. Normally we don't get to have dinner together because they we all have our own little families. I can't wait for ours to start.
Me and Alex are going grocery shopping for everything we need before Mom and Dad get here to start cooking.
When we get to the grocery store, Alex grabs a cart and we go to the produce section. He grabs cabbage, onions, lettuce, radishes, and celery, while I grab the rest of the salad ingredients. We meet back up and pick out potatoes together. We go thorough the rest of the store and grab the roast, broth, and some seasonings that we ran out of.
By the time we are done, we have lettuce, tomatoes, salami, pepperoni, carrots, onions, celery, potatoes, radishes, roast, seasonings, and broth. We have enough food to feed to block.
While we walk to the front to check out, the infant section catches my eye. I stop Alex for a second to check it out.
"It couldn't hurt to buy some diapers or something, right?" I ask.
He smiles and turns the cart into the baby section. "Not at all,"
We look around and decide to buy a few extra things for the baby. We finally decide on a box of diapers, baby powder, some white onsies, and a high-quality baby monitor. It never hurts to buy some things in advance, does it?
By the time we check out, it is 2:50, and my parents will be here soon. When I get inside with the groceries, my Mom pulls up in her minivan with Dad, Taylor, and Tyler.
We say our hello's and get to the kitchen to start cooking. Mom and I start peeling the potatoes after putting the roast it the crock pot to cook. Then we have to boil the potatoes for about an hour.
After forty-five minutes, we cut up the salad and check the dates on all of the dressings. Once everything was finished, the family arrived.
Now I just have to figure out how to tell them.
