I sighed as I placed a heavy cardboard box in the kitchen area, too tired and sore to move. I laid across the box, my reddish hair draping to the ground. My legs hung lazily off the box as I slowly decided to close my eyes and sleep there. "Viola" I heard my father call from the other room. "Viola come here sweetheart" I heard my mother sweetly sing in to the air probably hoping by some miracle I would respond. I groaned slipping to the floor and rubbing my eyes, black dots appeared before them and I blinked a few times hoping to clear them away. I laid on the chilled tile thinking about today. How it was only 4:00 and I was just about done with all human beings, I realize now how much of a hassle it is to move. 'When I get my own house I'm never going to move' I tell myself. "Viola Cadence Reign I want you here now!" Now my father was shouting and I could hear the hint of annoyance and some anger mixed in with his voice. I pushed myself off the tile floor and trudged to the living room.
My mom was sitting on the new couch and my dad was standing tapping his foot with an angry flush on his cheeks. My sister, Courtney, stood next to him she was twirling her short blonde hair, and had her lips turned to a frown and her eyebrows furrowed to make a perfect pout. My dad cleared his throat. "Alright, you two need to pick out your rooms, you can't have the master bedroom that's me and your mom's room. I assume you two are mature enough to do it without fighting for once." Courtney shot a look to me, her eyes read it all, she gets first look at both rooms, she chooses then I get the one leftover. Courtney gave a nod to our dad then we left the living room going down the hallway to where the two kids bedrooms were.
Courtney was 16 years old and prettier than me. She also believed that she was my third parent. She had golden blond hair with small streaks of strawberry blond mixed in. It rose a little bit above her shoulders and curled beautifully. Her eyes were a piercing green that could stop people in there tracks. Not to mention she had the perfect body. Having a sister as the one person in the world you want to be is not fun.
My sister took a glance of the two rooms. The one on the left had nothing in it no lamp or light just a closet door that led to a unbelievably small closet and a bare walls that were a sickly color of yellow. The room on the right was a little bit larger painted light blue and had a ceiling fan with a light, it also had a small white bed in the corner. The closet for that room had two doors and was a reasonably good size. My sister of course yelled that she got the one on the right and there was no discussing it. I tried to tell her that it was no fair because I wanted that room too and we should do Rock Paper Scissors for it. My sister huffed "I don't need to play a childish game to know this room is mine besides I'm bigger so I get the bigger room." I rolled my eyes and went to investigate the rest of he house. I knew later I would be mad for giving up without much of a fight but I was too tired too care.
The apartment was on the 2nd floor and was a reasonable size for four people. When you walk in ,there is a small hallway with a closet on the left to put jackets and shoes. If you walk a few more steps forward the kitchen is on the left, the kitchen leads to the dining room, across the hallway to the right is the living room, there is a door on the left wall of the living room that leads to my parents room and on the right wall of the living room a small hallway leads to me and Courtney's rooms. All we really had in the house was the dining room table, a few chairs and utensils, a bed in Courtney's room and a bed in my parents room, and a lot of boxes. We were almost done putting the boxes in the apartment as we had about two left. Unfortunately I only brought a few of my items not including my bed so looks like I will be sleeping on the couch tonight until I get a bed or mattress. I went to the dining room where I put most of my boxes. I grunted as I started to drag the boxes to my new ugly room.
