Prologue

I stood in the hallway staring at  the man across from me, tears swimming in my eyes. The pain of watching a  mate, a destined life partner make out with a girl who only wants his title can make the strongest warrior break down. I wouldn't wish it on anyone, but apparently everyone wished it on me. 

"Get out of the way stupid." Some girl sneered, pushing me against the locker so that my head hit them hard. Black dots started to fill my vision, and my head was pinning so fast that the people walking by me were only flashes. I sunk to the floor, my head still pressed hard against the locker as I suddenly felt bile rise in my throat. 

Not having a mate made you weak over time, and apparently after a year of knowing Garrett Delinc was my mate, I was the weakest wolf in the pack. 

Females find out who their mate is the second they touch them, it could be anywhere from when your five, 'til the day you die. But males, they gain the ability to find their mates when they touch the moment they turn eighteen, which is something I'm dreading for my mate to do. 

Garrett Delinc was the soon-to-be alpha of the pack. His father, Walter Delinc, will hand the title over to him once he hits his twentieth birthday. Unfortunately, Garrett turned eighteen today, which happened to be the same day he would announce who his mate was. If he didn't find her, which I know he will, Garrett will go on a two year long trek to find his mate. If Garrett wasn't about to become alpha, and I wasn't who I am, I would totally have told Garrett the moment I found out. But unfortunately, I am who I am and I can't tell Garrett, well.........

Because he hates me. 

My twin brother, Jay Malice, is a strange man to figure out. Through out our first fifteen years of life, he was the best brother a girl could have. He would watch chick flicks with me, paint my nails on occasion, and would even sit on the couch sunday nights and do facials. Best brother ever, right? Well, not really. On our sixteenth birthday, after we both unwrapped out presents from our mom and our dad, Jay and I headed outside to where we would change into our wolves. Around ten o'clock at night, our bones started breaking and we both started to scream. It took two hours for the transformation to complete, and the second the pain was gone I jumped to my feet and pawed at the door for my family to come see my brother and I. When they walked out, my mom was in tears, telling me what a beautiful wolf I had. Looking into the window, the reflection of a white wolf bounced back at me, it's piercing blue eyes mesmerizing even me. As everyone gathered around me, I looked over at my brother to see his wolf form glaring at me before running off into the forest. He's hated me for about a year after that.

When I turned seventeen, I crashed my car into a guard rail, flipping myself, and the car, into a ditch. No one found me for a full 24 hours. I thought I was going to die. Fortunately, a passing driver saw the ruined guard rail and checked over the cliff's edge, only to find me trapped underneath the car. I was hospitalized for two weeks, and my loving brother was back, as well as my best friend Garrett. Out of nowhere my brother started to hate me again, and this time it wasn't just sibling rivalry. He turned the entire school against me, with the help of the soon-to-be alpha. 

Garrett is my brothers best friend, which is why he hates me too. We used to be really good friends, best friends, but the second my brother hated me, Garrett did too. And when the school started calling me fat and ugly, Garrett and my brother would join in, laughing and taunting me to the point where I started self-harming. Garrett hated me so much, I knew he would reject me when he found out about us being mates. 

"Alice, are you alright?" I raised my head to meet the security guard Alen's worried face. He was in his early twenties, and honestly the only friend I had here.
