She felt the sun on her face as she gave a great long smile. It was a beautiful day, the sun was so bright it could pierce your eyes. Everyone was outside laughing, dancing, and having fun. She had never been happier. She had never had a friend, anyone who got to close ended up dead. But she didn't like to think about that.
"Hey you alright? I'm headed out. You sure you're alright to stay here alone?" Venessa spoke to Athena, while grabbing her keys off the table.
"Yeah I'm fine. You go have fun at work," Athena replied sarcastically, crossing her arms as she walked back into the shared apartment.
"Very funny," Venessa added, rolling her eyes.
"Bye!" Athena giggled, giving a small smile.
"Goodbye, and DON'T eat all the ice cream I'm saving that for later," Venessa responded smiling, while pointing her index finger at Athena. They both stuck each other tongues out at each other. Venessa was Athena's roommate. They'd met senior year at college and had become friends ever since.
When Venessa left, Athena got up, walked inside and closed all the curtains, as she always did. She would have to leave in a few hours for her job at the dinner, for the time being she put on the TV to distract herself from him. She could stop thinking about him, he was a horrible person who was sure he'd always find her. But she reassured herself he wouldn't since she lived in California, when she used to live in Texas. No one would think of going from Texas to California if you are trying to get away from a psychopath right? I mean no one would go from a small town in Texas to the big city in California if you were trying to hide. Right? She stopped herself from thinking any further.
She looked down at the clock under the TV and realized; she was late for work. Athena got up and raced to her bedroom. How the heck is it already 10:00am ? Last I checked it was still 8:00am. Maybe I just got caught in a daydream. Athena thought to herself as she gathered her work uniform. She put on a sloppy ponytail and looked in the mirror,
"Adorable," Athena sighed to herself sarcastically, while putting her hands on her hips. She rushed to grab her keys and her purse and ran out the door. When she reached the dinner she opened the door to an angry manager.
"Sorry I'm late, I got caught up with some lady problems," Athena whispered, lying. "Oh. Oh," The manager said disgusted, "I guess that's alright then, I mean you are my best waitress"
"Thanks John," Athena said smiling, as she walked past him toward the kitchen. She quickly snatched her notepad and aporn, then began taking orders of begging customers.
