This is from both the book and the tv series, I am unsure if the manhua version has yet updated to this point.

-------------------------------------------------------

Wei Wuxian looked around the Burial Mounds, the homes that once stood tall on the barren land were now crushed and burned to ashes. The Yiling Patriarch glanced worriedly at Wen Ning who emerged from the shadows, eyes traveling his past home with a cloud of feels coating his dark eyes.

Wen Ning (🥺my poor boy deserves the world at this point🥺) knelt to pick up some dirt by the stone beast, where some small trunks resided. This action led Weiying over to ask why he was picking up dirt, Wen Ning responded with a soft "... Sister."

He couldn't find the words to make Wen Ning feel better, what was there to tell him? He couldn't tell him that everything will get better, because their home was now a desolate wasteland, aside from the few plants that strived to grow.

Weiying knelt to ask for help from the dead, the skeletal arm emerging from the ground, answered his request. They spoke in silence, his brows furrowed slightly, bending further to whisper to the hand. After receiving the intel he wanted, he let the hand rest back into the soil, before he stood up and looked at his companions, Wen Ning and Lan Wangji.

"These days they brought about a hundred people up here. Still alive and breathing at the top, as for their captors. They've already left down the mountain, we should be careful on our way over. I have to idea what they are after." Weiying leads the way, Wangji casting worried glances to the male's body. He knew that Weiying was likely going to be okay, but he couldn't help but worry over him possibly re-opening the wound.

-------------------------------------------------------

After fighting their way to the top of the mountain, Weiying's ears twitched at the sound of human groaning from the cave.

The Demon-Slaughtering Cave, known as the legendary den of the Yiling Patriarch's human corpses. The deeds, done in this cave were even considered as sins that Heaven itself couldn't tolerate.

As they progressed into the cave's depths, the ceiling began to rise toward Heaven, and the voices became louder, clearer until they could make put distinct words and sentences. Using the cave's geographic terrain, they peaked down at the center, which was big enough to fit nearly a thousand people.

Fortunately, the number of people was stuck to a hundred, but they were all tied by deity-binding ropes. Upon further inspection, one could depict the juniors of all clans sitting there bound together in the center, which seems to be arguing.

"Why did you stop at stabbing his side? You should've slit his throat!" Jin Chan, the kid who picked an unfair fight with JinLing the time of their arrival back at carp tower, huffed. Looking next to Jin Chan, had to be Jin Ling, who else would have such a perfect cold-face!

JinLing spared Jin Chan no words, as he simply stated at the ropes around his body, nothing he could do to break them. He looked towards the new source of irritation, one who groaned complaints with no end.

"Come on, what are they even doing? I'd rather die by fierce ghosts during a night-hunt than starve to death in this smelly cave!" The voice belonged to, not just a Lan Disciple, but Lan JingYi. He spouted complaint upon complaint about his hunger and his sore muscles.

"They're probably planning to kill us off like those wretched Wen-dogs! He would turn us into his corpse puppets and have us fight our own family! They wouldn't be able to fight back against us and his enemies would fight amongst themselves instead! That dirty inhumane, Wei-dog! He's to blame!" Jin Chan scoffed at JingYi's un-Lan-Like behavior.
