“I wish I was a fixer. I would fix you up inside. I would build you a town if the world fell down.

I wish I was that guy.”

— Frank D. Fixer: Jason Mraz

This chapter gets a little sappy, just a warning :) xx

Ellas Pov:

“I’ll go first!” called Niall, “Dare.”

Louis made a menacing grin and said, “Call a random number and pretend you are their long-lost son”

We all laughed as Niall picked up the phone and dialled a random number.

“Hello? Is this my mother?” He said in his baby voice, “It’s me, Fred- you’re long lost son. My adopted parents finally allowed me to contact you!” ~~~ “No it’s the right number!” He turned back to us and hung up the phone, “Guess mommy gave me away for a reason” he went back to his normal voice, “Yeah, they hung up.” We all laughed and laughed.

“Can I ask someone?” Liam asked and we all nodded.

“Ella,” Oh shit. “Truth or Dare?”

“Truth.” I knew either way I’d be fucked.

Liam looked at me, a genuine look on his face, “Why do you hate us?”

“I don’t hate you…” their faces showed that they obviously didn’t believe me. “You really want to know why?” I threatened.

“Yes, we do.” They all said.

“FINE. I DO. I REALLY HATE YOU. I HATE YOUR SMUG LITTLE COMMENTS AND YOUR STUPID HAIR AND HOW YOU MAKE ME SEXUALLY FRUSTRATED BECAUSE YOU ALL ARE SO FUCKING FIT.” Smirks appeared on all of their faces. And I quieted down, “But most of all I hate that you stole my Hazza away from me.”

They all looked at each other very confused, “Ella, we didn-”

“Yes. You did. And I know it’s immature of me to blame it on you lot because it obviously wasn’t your intentions, but it’s easier to hate you than Harry.”

“Wait. So you don’t hate me?” He sounded relieved and concerned.

“I should, but I don’t.” I said quietly and his entire face lit up, “But just because I don’t hate you doesn’t mean all is forgiven. And it definitely doesn’t mean I want to forgive you or even talk to you.”

“Why?” he said sternly, “Why are you so resistant to letting me back in?”

“I don’t know how. I don’t see how I could just let you back in, now this quickly. Can I trust you? No. Why? Because you left me. Boom. Just like that. You said it wasn’t goodbye and it was. You didn’t need me anymore- you don’t need me. We were the best, best friends ever, but now we’re just two people who used to love each other and who are now just awkward neighbours.” I felt tears forming in my eyes.

“We just need to talk, then we can be friends again.” He yelled back.

“NO. We can’t be friends again. You destroyed me and flipped my world upside down. Now you have to live without me. You’ve been doing it for two freaking years now, it shouldn’t be that hard.”

“You don’t think I thought about you every day in the last two years?”

“No, I don’t think so. Otherwise you would’ve called.”

“I’m not the only one in the wrong here. You stopped calling too.”

“THAT’S BECAUSE YOU NEVER ANSWERED. Then you changed your number and what was I supposed to do? Call up your mum? Say ‘Hey Anne, your son hates me and didn’t give me his new number. Do you have it by any chance?’ Yeah right, I’m not that pathetic.”

“We can fix this; we can still be best friends.” It sounded like he was trying to convince himself of that, more than me.

“No, Harry. We can’t. There is nothing left of our friendship.”

“Oh really?” He yelled as he grabbed my arm, and dragged me to his room and led me over to his dresser, and pointed to a picture. It was the picture of when we were little, I had my head resting against his shoulder and we both had the cutest and biggest smiles on our faces.

“Harry… this is… but it’s… it’s just a picture Harry.”

“Fine.” He opened one of his drawers and pulled something out “What the fuck is this then?!”

He tossed a purple sweater at me. I looked at the front it had the name ‘Jack Wills’ written in big white letters at the front. It was the sweater I gave to Harry for his 16th birthday. I felt tears come to my eyes.

“You… you kept this?” I looked at him, amazed.

“Of course I did. It’s my favorite sweater. Always has been, always will.”

“This means so much to me, but…”

“What? It’s not enough? There’s more come on.” He grabbed my arm and dragged me back into the living room and sat me down between Niall and Liam. I still had his sweater in my hands as I took in its scent.

Harry began rummaging through piles of discs, before he found whatever he was looking for a put it in the DVD player. Suddenly, all the 5 boys appeared on the screen. It was one of their performances from the X Factor 2010.

I need to tell you

How you light up every second of the day

 16 year-old Harry sang.

 But in the moonlight

You just shine like a beacon on the bay

And I can’t explain

But it’s something about the way you look tonight

Takes my breath away

It’s that feeling I get about you, deep inside

And I can’t describe

But it’s something about the way you look tonight

Takes my breath away

The way you look tonight

I was finding it very difficult not to cry. I couldn’t believe it, that was our song. And they sang it.

“It’s… it’s our song.” I stuttered.

The boys all let out an ‘Oooohhhhh’ as if they just came to some sort of strange realization.

“What?” I asked.

Liam responded, “For week 6, the theme was Elton John. And Harry kept insisting we sing that song, but he never explained to us why it was so important.” I looked over at Harry and saw him smiling at me like he’d never seen me before, “Now we know.”

Finally, a tear escaped my eye and rolled down my cheek. “Hey, hey.” Harry ran over to me, and wiped the tear away, “Don’t cry, El.”

I couldn’t help myself, I jumped at him and tightly wrapped my arms around his neck, and he did the same with his arms around my waist. “I missed you, El.”

“I missed you too, Harry.” For the first time in two years, I felt whole again. Like when Harry left, a piece of me left with him, and it was finally back.
