Shattered soul <3>

Lucifer's eyes flew open in a snap, his dream being one of the strangest he'd had in a while. It was so unnatural that strange didn't even begin to describe its extent. But the man decided to brush it off for today as he blinked groggily to gain awareness of his surroundings.

The sun filtered through the cream coloured curtains and into a brightly couloured living room, highlighting the doused fireplace and the inky black screen of the TV. Two mugs were placed down on the wooden coffee table, one empty, the other half full. Lucifers eyes blinked rapidly, trying to remember what had happened last night, head still full of sleep.

A slight but apparent pressure on his chest indicated that he was not alone, the pins and needles in his leg confirming that thought. He groaned and shifted slightly, trying to loosen his leg, a pressure around his waist tightening. He heard a soft whine of sleepy annoyance coming from the little blonde that lay flat on top of him.
Suddenly the events of the previous evening came rushing back to his tired brain, forcing it to whirr rapidly.

He smiled as he remembered curling his arms around her, her shock at his gesture and the complete sense of love and acceptance he had felt last night returning as she nestled into him. He looked down at his sleeping detective, unable to see her face but had a clear view of her body, sprawled on top of his, both covered by the thin white quilt. He felt his arms loosely draped around her. He immediately woke them up, stretching them and loosening his taut muscles before capturing her in a hold much tighter than before. He felt her melt into his grip, her chest rising and falling steadily, her action most probably unconsciously triggered. Like a reflex.

His smile widened as he fell further for the tiny slice of heaven that lay atop him, snoring gently. He gently stroked her back, lightly brushing her pullover, trying to slowly wake her. But somehow it had the reverse effect and only caused her to utter a little sigh and cuddle into him with a shiver of pleasure. He laughed quietly, her stubbornness still quite obvious even in sleep. Lucifer decided to leave her be for a few moments, unable to bring himself to bother her peaceful sleep.

Chloe unnexpectedly clenched his shirt tightly, her body becoming rigid, her face contorted in fear. He could sense she was having a nightmare, her fists becoming increasingly tight. Lucifer hoisted himself up a few inches, worried about her.

The jolt caused her to start and wake to his deep disappointment. He was just getting confortable. She leaned up, her hands on his chest to face him, fear apparent in her wide eyes. The fear subsided slowly as she gazed at his face drowsily, colour seeping back into her face.

"Lucifer..." she whispered breathingly, touching his face in relief, as if trying to see if he was real.

She smiled sleepily, happiness flooding her, pushing the fear away to be locked in the darkest corners of her mind.

"I'm here..." He murmured, patting her back gently. Chloe gazed at his face in fascination now close enough to notice the beautiful details that made him even more intriguing. He perked curiously at the vague look on her face, one of deep concentration that he had seen before.

"What?" He asked, his hand reaching up to push the hair away from her face in order to see her expression. She looked up at him, still smiling curiously as her eyes scrutinised his handsome face.

"...nothing." she murmured after a long pause, yawning as she ran her fingers through his dark curls posesively. Lucifer eyed her in confusion, having clearly spotted the slight subdued drop in her voice. But he decided against pressing further. She gazed at his face, his sleepy eyes and a durable tousled hair. Chloe smiled, brushing a stray stand away from his forehead.

He pushed himself up into a sitting position, pulling his detective along with him. She still had her arms curled around his waist, her head nestled on his neck, her gentle breaths tickling the base of his collarbone. He grinned, the night having been one of the best ones of his entire existence, the thought of it truly boggling his half asleep mind. She played with his collar with her nimble hands, smiling into his neck contently.

"Good morning detective." Lucifer purred, looking down at her with deep affection that knew no bounds ever present in his eyes.

"Mhm. Good morning Lucifer." Chloe retorted, raising her head to look at him, not letting an inch of her body get out of contact with her devil. She still couldn't believe what was happening, her tired mind waiting for her to wake up and realise this was all a dream. She was pleasantly surprised though, as she stared into his molten eyes, feeling his warmth seep into her body comfortably.

"Did you sleep well?" The tiny blonde asked in concern, well aware that she had been applying most of her weight on him that night. He smiled, sensing her worry and nodding.

"Of course I did." He murmured patting a strand of her hair, his eyes flicking to her lips. She smiled, completely in love with him and his adorable nonchalant behavior round her.

"Thats good." She said quietly, her hand dropping from his collar. She settled her head back on his torso with a sigh, listening to his heart race to keep up with his conflicted and confusing feelings.

One thing was for sure though; that he, Lucifer Morningstar, the devil, had fallen for a mortal. And that was terrifying for one who had never felt love before. It scared him to be so vulnerable, but yet it also strangely empowered him. Now she was his Achille's heel. He was worried, so worried that people would target her because of him. Because they knew she was his weakness.

His worry intensified as he fell deeper into thought. He decided he needed to send a message. A message that if anyone, and he meant anyone, even laid a finger on her; he would annihilate them until they no longer comprehended what pain was. He had a spontaneous thought, one that could somehow work if he mutstered up enough strength. But he needed her permission first.

He slowly tilted his head, pushing the hair away from her neck slowly. He felt her stiffen against him in shock.

"Lucifer what are you..." Chloe began, confusion and slight fear in her voice.

"I'd like to...erm...give you something." He stated, not technically a lie.

"Do I have your permission detective?" He queried putting the choice in her hands, hoping beyond hope that she would trust him with this.

Her throat constricted, she was unable to reply as confusion rang clear in her brain. But ultimately, if she really loved him then she had to trust him.

She just nodded, giving him the confirmation he needed. Upon feeling the slight lift and nod of her head against his chest. He smiled, happy with her choice in trusting him. But what he had to do required  quite a but of courage, steeling himself in order to use powers he had denied himself using since he was cast out.

He leaned down, his lips inches from her neck, his breath a soothing sedative for the worried detective. He took a shaky breath and brought his lips to her neck, pressing slightly. Chloe let out small breathy gasp; trying to stifle it didnt really help. He bit down upon her skin softly, restraining as to not burn her entirely. Chloe shivered, a strange pleasing feeling coursing through her veins. She chatised herself for allowing herself to be turned on. Lucifer concentrated harder, a light glow appearing on her skin. He broke contact, smiling in satisfaction. It had worked.

"Close your eyes detective." He said, unaware of how seductive he sounded. Chloe slammed her eyelids shut upon hearing his word, not a complaint uttered.

Now this was a very crucial step, a precaution in order for her not to go blind. The light flared golden, brighter and bright until it engulfed the entire room. Chloe began to feel a slight burning sensation from where he had kissed her, strange but not painful. He smiled wider, delighted and slightly relieved that he hadn't lost his touch.

As the light faded to non-existence he scrutinied the area under her ear and grinned again. There it was, his brand. The pentacle was branded in a strange golden ink on her skin, glowing with beautiful heavenly light. He smirked at his handiwork.

Now this here was the mark of the lightbringer, a name he hadn't used in millennia. This would warn anyone in heaven or hell or even earth that she was not to be touched lest they wanted to face the consequences. He also cleverly added another useful feature; the mark would burn bright whenever she was in danger (which was very unlikely now) that would alert him immediately. Absolutely perfect. He chuckled and tightened his grip around her waist.

Chloe decided against questioning about what had just occurred, and rather chose to enjoy this strange morning without any mishaps.

Chloe jolted awake once more upon feeling the gentle brush of lips on her hair; Lucifer having thought her to be asleep, had taken the liberty to display affection he wouldn't normally show while she was conscious. She resisted the temptation to 'aww' and simply didn't move just to see where this would go. She heard him hum a little lullaby in a melodic  voice almost lulling her back to sleep. She had never heard this one before so she listened carefully. It was hypnotic melody that simply transfixed her.

For found are the fallen stars,
Thine collected by the shattered soul.
Mend what once was ours,
Doused, lest the sky be our goal.

Fickle was the shattered soul,
Thinking stars would mend it whole.
Never had he once thought
All this would be for nought.

And when  forever had elapsed
The shattered soul neared collapse.
But something grew inside his mind.
Something no one should ever find.
Like a plague
A rage.

Chaos rang clear.
Shadows aligned.
For the shattered soul.
Would never be whole.

Chloe held back her tears, eyes watering dangerously. It was simply beautiful. She had never heard anything quite like it, and sung in his beautiful voice it sounded almost, heavenly. Angelic even, the irony clearly apparent. But the song wasn't over.

Lost he was, thrice again shattered.
He told himself that nothing mattered.
Till twas late
Filled with hate.
In a sea of self loathing.
Nothing worth mourning.

Until the final turn of the Morningstar,
Something coerced that was too far.
Light ebbed in the shattered soul
Strange was it, the heart it once stole?

In his heart a painful gold.
There she stood not young not old,
For love had blossomed in his hate
A thing what would  surely change his fate.
And thus the shattered soul,
Became whole.

Chloe was mesmerized, her ears ringing with the final verse of the strange inhumanely beautiful lullaby.

"That was beautiful..." Chloe mustered. She felt him jump in slight shock. She cursed herself for opening her big mouth. She forgot she was pretending to be asleep. She felt him laugh lightly.

"Thank you." He murmured, still unable to see her face but judged by her voice that she liked it.

"What is it called?" She asked, twisting for the millionth time to look at him.

"I simply called it Shattered soul." He said, ponderingly, as if trying to remember.

"I know what you're thinking detective and no, you will not find the original." He chuckled. Wow. Could he read her mind?

"Why not?" She asked, slightly annoyed.

"Because I created it." He answered simply, stroking her hair with a gentleness only reserved for her.

He eyes widened as she searched his for any trace of a lie which she knew she wouldn't find but it still surprised her anyway.

"You...what?" She stuttered, grabbing his collar dramatically.

"H-how? When? Why?"

Lucifer chuckled, but his smile slowly turned into a frown as he fell deep in thought.

"Well, it was before I was sent away, while I was still in the silver city."he began. Chloe let him speak, knowing his family was a touchy subject for him.

"I had a few younger sisters.  Four to be exact. And since I wasn't too fond of my brothers, a lavished most of my attention towards them." He contined, face gaining a soft look. It was hard to imagine the Lucifer she knew doting on his little sisters.

"Their names were, Ariel, Azrael, Remiel and the youngest Raphael." He spoke softly, his memories breaching the dam at this point. Such biblical names, Chloe thought.

"At some point during our lives, our parents were at each others throats at every waking moment," he uttered through clenched teeth, venom lacing his voice.

"And we occasionally got caught in the crossfire. So I wrote this to distract them from their troubles. my elder brothers having no use for it shunned me, but I was still a favourite among the girls." He said with a smile.

"Nothing has changed there then." Chloe said with a chuckle hugging him tighter a little posesively.

"Well yes..." he contined laughing along with her.

"Anyway, I'd sing it to them every mayr- I mean night, and it would soothe them and rid them of their fear plaguing worries."

Remiel chased Azrael through the semi gate, her spear held aloft as she rushed forward, a huge smile on her face.

"You're so going to pay for that Az!" She squealed, angry but playfully masking it.

Azrael turned around, mid-sprint and made a silly face at her to provoke her.

"That is if you can catch me sis." She mocked, her wings erupting out of her back.

"Oh its on!" Called Remiel, unfurling her own brownish wings, manifesting them in all their glory.

She flapped powerfully, pushing of the ground in pursuit of her speedy sister.
Raphael stood firmly on the ground, looking at her sisters with a motherly look. Ariel stood next to her with a wistfully expression on her face as she watched them flit away, darting around white columns and ducking under balustrades.

"They're going to hurt themselves." Sighed Raphael crossing her arms and looking at them reproachfully.

"Then its going to be, 'hey Raphael!'" She said mimicking Azraels high pitched voice with her own.

"'D'you mind healing me? Ill owe you one!'"

Ariel chuckled and shook her head, looking at the sky.

"Yeah, if past is prologue then she owes me around a thousand times over." Raphael muttered rolling her eyes. She was the youngest sure, but she was always watching out for everyone, like a mother. Since their real one was in no shape to do so.

"Oh loosen up Raph." A low voice from behind her uttered. A smile erupted on their faces as they turned around to face their favourite brother.

"Samael!" They said in unison, causing him to laugh.

"Hello you two." He said smilingly, making his way towards them slowly, his hands behind his back. They eys him curiously, suspicion written on their faces.

"What are those two doing?" He asked, as they stared transfixed at his hidden hands.

"Oh, Az stole Remi's favourite spear, its a long story," said Ariel nonchalantly as he stopped in front of them, his white robes pristine as they should be for the lightbringer.

"The better question is, what's in your hands?" She contined, eyeing him all buisnesslike. This is why he liked the girls better. They were much more perceptive and attentive than men. By this time Azreal and Remiel had noticed his arrival, both landing with muted thumps, their wings folding with a rustle.

"Sam!" Cried Azreal, throwing herself at him and trapping him in a crushing hug.

"How did training go?" She asked as she pulled away, Remiel giving him a huge smile to compensate for her lack of enthusiasm.

"Boring, as usual, Ari you aren't missing out on anything trust me." He said, directing his speech toward Ariel, giving her a shrug, knowing that she had been reprimanded for trying to free the heavenly equestrian beasts. She gave him a small smile of thanks, gratefull for his kind words.

"So, what is in your hands then Sam?" Ariel queried, her interest once again perked as they all knelt to take a better view of whatever it was he was hiding. Samael laughed at their strangely animalistic gazes and revealed the contents of his hands slowly. In them where triangular pastries filled with a strange red marmalade. the girls eyes widened with complete and utter glee, staring at the confections maliciously. a pomegranate cluster. to be specific, a tart that would give the consumer a pleasant surprise upon eating them. Your tongue could glow or you'd have a tail sticking out of your arse.

"Are those-" began Azrael shakily, barely containing a fit of laughter.

"They are."

"And you took them from-"

"I did.'"

Raphael smiled, her hand stretching out to grab one. But before she could he retracted his hand with tut.

"Hey! I risked a great deal stealing these." he said with a smirk, eyeing them shiftily.

"You're really going to blackmail your own sisters?" said Remiel in disbelief, her arms crossing.

He smiled, a strange gleam to his eyes drawing them in.

"You bet i am Remi." he purred, straightening up.

Remiel looked him in the eye for what seemed to be an eternity, flinching a little and angling his spear towards him.

"Fine. "she growled harshly, bummed that she had been defeated.

"Excellent!" he exclaimed happily, handing them each a pastry.

"Its nothing personal dear sister." he began, as he handed Remiel her share. She snatched it up within a split second, scowling at him reproachfully.

"Its just business."he ended with a wink, earning an eyeroll from the rest.

"Piss off Sam." she retorted, unable to stop a smile from appearing as she pocketed the treat.

Ariel dusted off her murky green cloak, adjusting her golden laurel wreath carefully. it had been a gift from her mother. Back when she was...well, a proper mother.

"Well I'm off to the aviary guys." she sighed, looking at her group of siblings, all preparing for leave. They looked up in unison, shock clouding their faces.

"Ari, I don't think that's a good idea." mumbled Samael, looking at the ground for some unknown reason, the rest looking at anything but the sky.

"What?" Ariel cried, shocked at their strange behavior.

"Well, erm, I think it just wouldn't be prudent considering the fact that father, uh, sort of, forbade you to-" replied Raphael meekly, unable to look at her, sweat beading on the forehead.

"Since when have you guys ever cared about his silly punishments?" said Ariel, her voice raising in anger; why were they taking her fathers side; when had they ever?

She scowled at their betrayal, the feeling ringing clear in her mind. She shook her head at them reproachfully  and unfurled her dusky bronze wings, their primaries tipped with red, and launched into the sky and right into her father. Her sibling winced as she was captured in their fathers rough grip.

The truth was that they had caught a glimpse of his father accompanied by Gabriel on one of his patrols and had tried to warn her. Otherwise they would have let her fly away without a care. But now it was too late.

"F-father!" exclaimed Ariel with way too much enthusiasm for a normal visit.

The enormous deity frowned upon her with such scorn that its was only common sense that he had overheard the tail end of their conversation. The sky turned a murky gray, the clouds darkening noticeably  and the stars Samael had shaped with his own hands, simply vanished.

"Great." they heard Gabriel mutter, crossing his arms in mid air as he eyed the sky warily.

"Here we go again." he sighed, flapping his wings with increasing power in preparation for an oncoming storm.

Samael rolled his eyes in agreement, but still worried about his little sister.

"And what did I tell you about flying?" their father boomed, gripping Ariel's arms tighter as her expression contorted in fear and shame.

"You told  m-me, n-not to. I-i was grounded." she whispered, her voice breaking slightly her eyes brimming with tears at the waterline.

Samael felt the rage bubble up, searing his veins as he clenched his fists tightly. She did not deserve this. Not for an act of pure kindness that defined her nature and the nature of all angels.

"I'm sorry father." She sobbed solemnly, her tears dripping unto the ground with a small patter, her sheer hight causing its velocity to reduce.

"I'm so sorry."

Samael closed his eyes, trying to contain his all consuming rage. He was fair. He was level. He was the morning star. Their father looked her over coldly, his indifference apparent as the sky turned a murky, dead grey that mirrored his current mood. He released the tiny angel's arm, his grip leaving faint marks on her forearm.

"Get out of my sight, you disgust me." He muttered, his eyes cold and his face deadpan. He avoided looking at her, his eyes on the clouds as he crossed his arms.

Ariel looked up; she shattered at his dismissal, tears flowing that she didn't even seem to notice. Even Gabriel seemed horrified, the saddened look in his eyes amplifying as the weight of his words wrung heavy on all of them.

"S-surely you dont mean th-that father?" He stammered, his usually perfect summerian, wobbling and wavering.

The huge presence turned around to face his son with a scowl that made the poor angel cower. Ariel had landed and fallen into Samaels arms, sobbing uncontrollably. She buried her face in his neck, Samael's arms weaving around her back sympatheticly. The tall boy, lifted his head, a scowl etched on his face directed at his entitled jerk of a father.

"You are all supposed to be angels. You represent me, my honor and my pride." The voice boomed, anger ringing clear as he eyes them with disappointment.

"What hope do I have for those of you who cannot follow a simple order?" He continued scathing, his sneer growing more pronounced by the minute.

"You are all flawed."

Thats when he snapped. Simply lost it. He was no longer an angel, no longer a being. He was just blind rage, his fathers words acting like some sort of sick fuel to his growing fury. A fire blazed in his eyes, as his father stoked the inferno withing him.

"You need to be fixed." The voiceannoinced with finality, not noticing the dark haired angel that was nearing absolute combustion. Its not like he ever noticed them. Saw them.

With that, the lightbringer charged at his father.

                           [X]

"Samael!" Gabriel cried, his face pale with sickening fear.

At this point Michael had flown in to see what all the commotion was about. The boy, claimed a hand to his mouth as he skidded to a stop, seeing his unconscious brother plummet towards the bridge.

Gabriel hovered in mid air, frozen with shock and terror. He shuddered as he remember what his father had down to his brother. Michael turned to his father, the pain apparent in his eyes. He was his twin after all.

The man turned around slowly, no emotion on his face, and vanished into thin air. A tear slid down Michaels face, his heart shattering at his fathers unexplainable behavior.

"Oh i think I'm going to be sick." Groaned Castiel, just arriving.

"Those winds really tossed me around, do you know who pissed fath-" Castiel froze like the rest as he caught sight of his plummeting brother, his sister Ariel sobbing in fear while the rest stood stock still.

"What in the heavens..."  he breathed, running his hand through his hair.

Michael was the first to snap out of their horrified trance. He jolted forward, flapping his wings powerfully.

"Do something Gabriel!!" He cried, looking at his brother beseechingly.

Gabriel was mumbling to himself in fear, the events unable to compute in his brain.

Michael scowled at his lack of helpfulness and went into a full fledged dive after his brother. Castiel screeched in a very unmelodic voice as he watched Michael rush after his twin.

"Michael you idiot! Stop!" He yelled, his throat closing up.

"Zadkiel, stop him!" He growled at his younger brother, stood upon the same ledge as his sisters. Zadkiel gave him a goofy grin laced with fear and a curt nod.

"I'm going to get Amendiel." Castiel said definitively, nodding to himself.

"Gabriel, if they somehow manage to haul him out of there without getting vaporised, take him straight to Raph, got it?" He barked at his older brother, turning to face him sharply. Gabriel didn't answer, his usually prominent leadership skills failing him. He wasn't great under pressure.

"Useless feather brain." Seethed gabriel, swiveling to face Seraphiel.

"Where the fuck is Raz?" He threw at his quiet brother, his hostility scaring him a little.

"Easy, Castiel." Muttered Seraphiel, raining his hands in surrender.

"He's at the clairvoyant." He added calmly.

Castiel ran his hands through his hair, falling appart at the seams. He had never seen his father so enraged; he could have killed Samael.

"I-i'll call Ibriel over on my way. When he get here tell him to help Gabriel get his shit together with his emotion control. Then ill leave it to Amenadiel when he gets here." He said, breathing deeply.

"Oh and tell him to calm Ariel down she's going into hysteria." the sturdy blond sighed, already tired.

"Want me to call Uri?" Asked Seraphiel perkily.

"Yeah why not bring the whole cavalry." Castiel retorted sarcastically.

"Thats not going to attract uneeded attention." Seraphiel scowled at him reproachfully.

"Let's just hope that Remi can keep Mum distracted long enough. She won't be happy about this." He said solemnly, leveling his brother with a warning gaze that was returned almost immediately.  With that he stared into the air without a further glance.

                                 [X]

Samael lat slumped on his bed, Raphael having managed to stop the flow of ichor from his temple. The boy had a permanent scowl on his face, his eyes dead and dark. His sibling that were converged around his bed were becoming increasingly worried about him.

"Should we say something?" Whispered Zadkiel in a low voice, a worried crease forming on his forehead.

"I can hear you, idiot." Barked the bed ridden Samael harshly, throwing a glare that made his younger brother wince.

Samael rolled his eyes and directed them towards the ceiling. What his father had done was beyond wrong in his book. He didn't give two fucks that he had broken two ribs and his nose, no. He had been humiliated. Him. The lightbringer. The pride of God had been swatted away like a mere fly. He ground  his teeth, a stormy look on his face that didn't bode well for anyone.

"Sam." Said a quiet voice from next to him. He looked down, a blazing look in his eyes directed to the one who interrupted his train of thought. But he couldn't stay mad at his baby sister.

"Azrael." He replied, his eyes softening slightly.

"Thank you." She whispered, a tear dripping off her nose.

"Yeah..." mumbled Gabriel, his eyes glued to the floor.

"That was brave."

"Brave?!" Shrieked Michael, jumping off his seat next to his twins bed in a flash.

"That was pure heroism!" He yelled confidently, pride and slight jealousy in his eyes. His face was red and blotchy but would never admit that he'd been crying. Samael lifted his eyes slightly to his usually quiet twin.

"Thank you brother." He said quietly, placing a sore hand on Michael's upper arm.

Michael gave him a small glimmer of a smile before settling down.

Then it was Amenadiel's turn to rise.

"That was no heroism!" He growled, pointing at his younger bed ridden brother who rolled his eyes.

"That was blatant recklessness!" He yelled, gripping the foot of the bed tighter. He may be a tyrant but he still cared about his siblings and it was clear in concerns in his voice.

"Oh shut up Amenadiel." Scoffed Remiel.

"I'm glad he stuck it to dear old dad for a change."

Samael gave his sister a devious grin, reaching over for a high five. It was Amenadiel's turn to roll his eyes.

Then all was silent as each one of the gathered siblings pondered darkly about what was to come.

"Sam?" Said a small voice from the back of the room.

Samael lifted his head in annoyance, searching for the voice. To his surprise, it had been Zadkiel who had spoken.

"Sing it." He mumbled, nearing his brothers bed.

Samael eyed him carefully, trying to read his expression and determine what he meant.

"What do you mean?" Sam uttered just as Zadkiel plopped down on the bed next to him, his pleading eyes apparent.

"You know..." muttered Zadkiel, reddening a bit.

"Shattered soul."

Samael's eyes widened. How did he-

"I listen sometimes." Said quiet Zadkiel, lookng down at his hands that fiddled with his murky robe.

"When you sing it to the girls, I listen you know."

"I sit outside the door and it makes me feel better." He mumbled.

Samael was dumbfounded, wondering what in heaven had compelled him to do such a thing. Yet his heart warmed at the fact that he was unintentionally calming his usually dull brother.

"When Mother called me stupid and kicked me off Castiel singing just cuz I missed a chord...I cried.” Zadkiel said meekly, his eyes downcast.

Seraphiel looked at his brother sympathetically. He wasnt the brightest angel, that was for sure, but he didn’t deserve to be treated that way. No one deserved to be called stupid by their own mother.

“That night, i couldn’t sleep. Then I heard a  beautiful voice singing and I peeked through the cracks in Ariels door.” He nodded towards Ariel, who’s mouth had formed an o of surprise.

“I heard it Sam.” He said happily, and innocent smile paired with glistening innocent shining eyes.

“It made me feel so peaceful. Like nothing could hurt me.” Spoke Zadkiel softly.

“like a shield.” He added, proud of his metaphor as he looked at Samael for approval.

Samael was simply bewildered.  So the had been listening? Well at least Zadkiel had been.

“I listen sometimes.” Said Ibriel, eyeing his brothers nervously.

“Me too.” Admitted Castiel.

“I even worked some of the lines into my choir.”

“We've also heard it.” Said Raguel, pointing at his brother Raziel who nodded in confirmation.

To say that Sam was shocked would be the understatement of the eon. But he felt weirdly...touched.

“Well...erm...” Samael began, tripping on his own words as  he stammered, not used to being this close to his male siblings before.

“If you all know the verses then...”

“Why not sing along?” he said, looking around the room.

Castiel beamed, singing of course, was his forte and he loved to shine.

“Yeah!” he cried, giving the air a wallowing punch.

“Id like to start if you don’t mind...” said Michael quietly, raising his hand awkwardly as if in class.

“Go ahead.”

The young angel cleared his throat and began.

“For found are the fallen stars, Thine collected by the shattered soul.” He sang in a smooth voice.

“Mend what once was ours, doused lest the sky be our goal.” Quiped Seraphiel.

“Fickle was the shattered soul, thinking stars would mend him whole.” Sang Remiel in her honey like voice.

“Never had he once thought, all this would be for nought.” Chimed Zadkiel.

“When forever had elapsed, the shattered soul neared collapse.” Whispered the shy Raguel.

“but something grew jnside his mind, something no one should ever find.” Sang Raziel, lowering his voice ominously.

“Like a plague, a rage.” Raphael murmured.

“Chaos rang clear, shadows aligned.” Chanted Ibriel.

“For the shattered soul would never be whole.” Breathed Ariel, on the verge of tears again.

Silence fell for about a minute before the reprise began.

“Lost he was thrice again shattered, he told himself that nothing mattered.” Spoke Gabriel darkly.

“Till twas too late, filled with hate.” Said Azrael sadly.

“until the final turn of the Morningstar, Something coerced that was to far.” Sang Jophiel hopefully.

“Light ebbed in the shattered soul, strange was it the heart it once stole.” Began Amenadiel grudgingly to everyone's surprise.

“In his heart a painful gold, there she stood not young not old.” Chimed Uriel excitedly.

“For love had blossomed in his hate, a thing that would surely change his fate.” Spoke Zuriel softly, the song now nearing its end.

“And thus the shattered soul, became whole.” Ended Samael, a peaceful serenity on his face.

Lucifer gazed into space, the painful memory jarring him as he had finished recounting the story a while ago.

“Hey...are you ok?” asked Chloe, worried at how silent he'd been for the past couple minutes.

He jumped and looked down at her, his eyes softening.

"I'm alright." He murmured, gently. And he was. He might miss his family, and dad knows when he would see them again or what their reaction could be, but he already had everything he needed, right here.

"We should do this again sometime." Sighed Chloe, leaning into him warmly.

"What, sleep on your couch?" He chuckled sarcastically.

She laughed lightly and shook her head.

"No. I mean, us. Hanging out." She sighed, her giggles dying down.

"Id like that detective." He said softly.

"Me too."
