Attack and Adopt

It was the disastrous scene. Houses were on fire, vehicles were either crashed into something or exploded. There were blood stains on walls of houses and roads. It was complete wipe out of that small village.

  Sophia's features were contorted with rage, pity and helplessness. She was strolling through deserted village. Village was complete silent. ..except..a small frantic heartbeat. She was surprised to hear that someone was alive. she was a compassionate and caring woman. She immediately tried to locate the heartbeat. It was coming from a small house. she sniffed the air..she could smell a sweet smell of innocent blood..so...a child.
     She rushed over the house , enters living room to find it empty. she found a broken door opening in basement. As she came near to it, smell intensified then she smelled a faint smell of perfume used to hide smell of person. She silently open the door of the cupboard and found a kid of 5 to 6 years old sitting with a small knife which he immediately brandished against her but she was quick. She caught his wrist and twisted it. The knife fell on the floor. The was also quick, he jumped over her and tried to run away. But you can not overrun a vampire.
    Sophia caught him but kid was relentless in his efforts to escape.

" Relax, I am not trying to harm you. I just want to talk you. " Sophia said in effort to calm down the kid.

" Ha! Like I would believe you... you blood thirsty leech." Kid shouted.

Sophia was surprised with his fighting spirit as well as venomicity towards her. But she quickly understood it given the bloody picture of the village.

She again told him to calm down." I would have already killed you if I wanted to. "

" Sure. So I am suppose to believe you? And you would bring me along with you as snack during your journey? Ha..ha ha...I am kid but I am not naive to trust a Vampire. If you really wish me no harm ....release me. Just let me go..." He was furiously saying these words while wiping his eyes.

Sophia found her mother heart cracking a bit. She let him go. He fell on the floor due to his constant tries to escape. But then he  whirl around and said "  I may be small today, maymay not have  power to kill you but I will avenge death of my village , my friends. I will not forget you."
   Sophia was stunned. She was Vampire of 600 hundred years and she thought there is now nothing that can stun her but she was mistaken. The little boy has a warrior spirit. She immediately said" I did not kill anyone here. I was journeying to my home. I could smell all the blood so I came here to investigate and to help if needed. My people are here with me, and they also didn't touch anyone here."

Kid laughed humorlessly. " Again, why should I trust you? "

" why would I talk with you , if I wanted to kill you?"

Kid remain silent...contemplating ... "  May be you have other motive?"

Again Sophia was surprised to see maturity of the kid. " yes..I have. but it doesn't include any harm to you. Just listen me first."

" as if I have other option" kid said.

Sophia understood from where his distrust was coming so she remain silent. She herself didn't understand why she was intrigued by him. Why she was determined to prove her innocence to him. What is that her heart wanted?
