Chapter Nineteen

I know I said I'd start a sequel... But that's too much work. XD I just re-read my 'sneak peek' and... Oh dear. I'm definitely come a long way since the last time I updated. Or maybe I haven't. I hope I have though. XD Enjoy!

Bella's POV

Edward took my hand as he drove, and we continued through the planes and cars and boats until we finally reached an island.

"Welcome to Isle Esme," Edward murmured into my ear.

Wow...

Holy crap ISLE ESME?!

Well I guess Edward's generosity was taught, not just a part of his nature.

"Isle Esme?" I ask sceptically, raising my eyebrows.

Edward shrugs, "It was a birthday present to Esme from Carlisle."

I laugh and then squeal as Edward picks me up bridal style. "Hello Mrs Cullen," He smiles, and kisses me quickly on the lips.

We run through the house, and finally throw ourselves onto the bed. I climb on top of him and we begin kissing furiously.

Edward's phone goes off, and he immediately presses the ignore button. The phone rings again, and again, until Edward finally sighs and picks it up.

"Emmett, now is not the time," Edward growls, then his expression softens to one of heartbreak, then one of horror.

"Esme, calm down, is Carlisle there?" Edward says, and I immediately become alert. Emmett never parts with his phone, so why does Esme have it?

"Esme listen to me!" Edward yells. "Everything will be fine! Bella and I will be home in a few hours."
He jumps up and grabs our bags. We climb back into the boat and Edward starts driving at a pace that I didn't think was possible in this kind of vehicle.

"Edward..." I whisper, and I know that even over the roar of the waves and the engine he can hear me. "What's happened?"

"It's the family," He replies solemnly. "They're gone."

***

(Okay, so that's what I wrote last year. XD Here's the new stuff. I hope it's at least marginally better).

"Edward," I mutter, my eyes wide as he drives up to the house. I grip his spare hand tightly.

"I know," He murmurs thickly, bringing the car to a slow stop.

The house looks completely normal, and that's the problem. According to Edward, our siblings were screaming in pain while Carlisle and Esme went for a walk. They ran back and all they could find was their children's phones on the floor.

Before we allow ourselves to hesitate or stall, we both walk into the house.

Now the inside, is quite a sight. Alice, Jasper, Rosalie's phones are still in floor, but they're not the only things marring the perfectly white carpet. End tables have been upturned, potted plants and vases have been smashed; the mirror on the other side of the room has a series of cracks in it, coming straight from the centre, as if someone kicked it. But around the phones... I always knew Aro was one for theatrics, but this... No way.

Are huge, black V has been spray painted into the carpet, or at least I hope it's paint, because if it's not, it's ash... And there are only five people that ash could belong to. Nessie already went back to the Volturi when Edward and I left for our honeymoon, and I cringe as I think of fun-loving Emmett, or bubbly Alice, or reserved Jasper, or fiesty Rosalie, being burnt to ash in their own home.
