Chapter One:
Blaze's POV:
It was early in the morning when the alarm clock went off, bolting me upright with a gasp. I mentally cursed at it and slammed down the off button. You know how you just want to throw it out the window sometimes and go back to sleep? Yeah. One of those days.
I mumbled incoherent words under my breath as I stood up from my bed. I could faintly hear Fallen’s alarm clock going off as well. It suddenly stopped and a loud thud came after wards. I tilted my head to the side some, wondering what the heck she did with it. Me being my nosey self, went to investigate.
I walked down the hall and poked my head through the open door, seeing the alarm clock in pieces on the floor. Fallen was glaring at it, hard.
“Hate the alarm clock, huh?” I teased her, propping myself up against the door post. She turned and looked at me.
“It wouldn’t shut up!” She shrieked, making me laugh again.
“You do know there’s such thing as an ‘off’ button, right?” I arched one of my eye brows. She just stared at me.
“Right. I knew that. Pfft,” Fallen rolled her eyes and stood up, walking past me.
“I don’t think so!” I yelled, and ran down the hallway, her on my heels.
“I call it first today! You always get the bathroom first, Blaze!” She screamed at me as we ran.
“So?! I’m always up first!” I shot back, almost there.
I then felt myself tumbling down, face-planting into the ground. I looked over my shoulder, seeing Fallen down behind me, her hands wrapped around my ankle.
“Cheater!” I hissed at her. She said nothing and quickly stood, leaping over me and locking herself in the bathroom.
“Dammit!” I mumbled as I stood up. I just heard her tinkling laugh from the bathroom as I walked back to my room to get my clothes ready for the day.
I sighed in frustration as I looked through my closet, picking out a pair of black skinny jeans. I chose some random top, and my high-top Nike shoes to go along with it. I quickly changed into the outfit as I heard the bathroom door unlock.
“Your turn,” Fallen smirked as she walked past my bedroom door. She had straightened her hair, and had done her makeup. She was probably going to get ready now.
I rolled my eyes and got up from tying my shoes. I walked into the bathroom, locking it behind me. I turned on the straightener, and waited for it to heat up. While it was heating up, I took the time to do my makeup.
Black eyeliner, black mascara, and green eye shadow. Nothing too big, but not just plain.
The beeping of the straightener soon sounded, and I set down the mini mirror that I use to put on my makeup. I started straightening my three toned hair. Blonde on top, black underneath, and orange streaks. I personally loved the hairstyle. So did my sister, well should I say twin sister. She had the same hairstyle, but the streaks were different color. Mine were orange and hers were a light blue.
People at school didn’t really have a hard time telling us apart. The streak color easily explained who each other was. But to newcomers, it was kind of hard at first.
I finished straightening my hair and smiled when it does. I turned it off, unplugged it, and started to let it cool. I walked out of the bathroom and headed back into my room to get my backpack before heading down the stairs. I picked it up from the desk and slung it over my right shoulder.
I shut off the light in my room and bounded down the stairs, taking them two at a time instead of one at a time. I was sort of excited for today. It was the first day of high school. We had been going to our school system now for about 6 years. We’ve basically grown up here in Williamsburg, Virginia.
I couldn’t think about moving somewhere else. I’d miss my friends too much, and just the climate of living here. It was perfect for us. Well, I thought so anyway.
“Fallen! Let’s go! We’re gonna be late!” I shouted up to her.
“I’m coming!” I heard her yell. I sighed and got an apple from the fridge, biting into it as I heard feet stomp on the ground.
I turned, seeing Fallen behind me, her backpack slung over her right shoulder as well.
“Apple?” I asked.
“Yes please,” She smiled and held out her hand.
I got another one from the fridge and plopped it into her open hand. She bit into it at the same time I took another bite from mine.
I walked to the front door, opening it and walking outside. Fallen’s footsteps sounded behind me. We didn’t live that far away from school, so that was an advantage of us walking there all the time. We loved the walk, and the exercise. Well, I did anyway.
We walked in silence, and I didn’t mind it actually. I was too busy thinking to myself about how the school year would go.
The last one, at our old school, went bad at the end when my secret was exposed. I hadn’t meant to tell anyone. I mean, I told my best friend, you’d think she’d keep it a secret, right? Wrong. She ended up telling everyone. And I do mean everyone.
I knew right then and there that I could trust no one with it, not even my own sister. Yeah, she was my sister, but I just couldn’t find it in me to tell her the truth.
I didn’t even know if I was ever going to tell her. Maybe someday when we were older, but not anytime soon.
“Blaze? Hello? Earth to Blaze?” I heard Fallen’s voice in the distant. I blinked a couple times, coming back to the present.
“Sorry, what were you saying? I kind dozed off into a day dream,” I apologized.
“I was saying we were here. Ya know, here at the school.” She looked at me, confusion spread over her face.
“Oh. Well. That’s good. No more walking.” I had no clue what to say, so I said the first thing that came to my mind.
“Are you okay, Blaze? You seem odd.” Fallen asked me quietly.
“I’m fine. I just have a lot- Oh my god. Dude, turn around and don’t stare.” I quickly said.
I pointed to my right as two boys started walking down the sidewalk. They looked like twins from far away, but I couldn’t really tell. Their hair was exactly the same, but parted on different sides. One of them had a lip ring, the other had sight eyeliner on.
The guy on the left was wearing a blazer, black jeans, and black boots. The guy on the right had on a white blazer, a black t-shirt, black jeans, white studded belt, a chain belt, and black boots.
“Whaa...Holy crap. How can I not stare!?” Fallen asked me, not looking at me.
“I don’t know! Just don’t! They’ll think we’re awkward!” I snapped, and tugged on her arm, pulling her forward with me.
“I...I can’t help it! Look at them!” Fallen slapped my hand a couple times, making me stop dragging her.
“Oh my god. Blaze! OH MY GOD! They’re walking over here!” Fallen started smacking my arm. I didn’t seem to notice.
“Keep calm. We don’t wanna seem like complete idiots.” I mumbled, trying to calm down. Nothing was working for me.
“Good luck with that.” Fallen muttered. I could tell she was trying to calm down as well. She seemed to be doing a better job than I was.
Keep clam, Blaze, keep calm. I thought to myself. I sighed and took a deep breath. They were almost over to us now. They looked even better up close and personal. I couldn’t believe this.
