Picking up George was strange, I gave him a call to let him know we were on our way to pick him up. He sounded stressed, tired, upset.... I dont know. Nick pulled up while I got out to go see if George needed help.
He was already downstairs in a wheelchair waiting

"How long have you been waiting down here?"
"Since you first said you were coming. I cant stay here longer I hate hospitals."
"Me too, let's go."

I push George up to the front seat because it's way more comfortable than the back. I grab his little bag of medicine and hop in the back.

"Hey George, how've you been?"
"Hi Nick, I'm okay. Can we just go home?"
"Sure, are you hungry? I'll make you some soup or chicken when we get back."
"Chicken soup sounds great."
"Please, put on your seatbelt this time?"
"Way ahead of you Nick, just drive."

I stayed quiet in the back because my head was pounding. Keeping my head down and fidgeting with my thumbs, I heard a... "pst"

What? I know you're here.

Hi, missed me?

Nope, can you go away? You make my head hurt ten times worst.

Nope. I'll be here until you can figure out how to get me out of your head, L O L!

Please, GO AWAY!

I wince in pain while holding my head, I feel Nicks burning eyes looking at me through his mirror.

"Hey Clay... are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
"You sure? You look like-"
"I said i'm fine."

George looks up and to his right to see me in the backseat through the mirror. He has that worrying look he had when I was in the shower a couple hours ago. I looked at him, he turned his head to the left, I shrugged and looked down. I didn't know how to react to his face turning.

Things are just awkward now.

Arriving back home, George was still too slow to walk on his own, Nick and I helped as much as we could without him yelling at us to stop. Nick gave me a look, shook his head, and I knew I had to let go and just let Nick help George.

Why is George so pissed at me?

I dont know maybe you shouldn't have left him alone in the hospital???

shut up! I gotta talk to him. I-

You messed up? Clay you're doing the best you can, I say just give him a week to recover. Don't talk to him about the crash, or the date, or even Ashley. Just help him with laundry, making food, and going to the bathroom. Okay?

Fine.

I walk inside of my apartment first and I hold the door open for George and Nick.

"Thanks."
"Yup. Hey, are you hungry now George?"
"No, I just want to go lay down."
"Okay, Nick?"
"I'm good, you should go lay down too. I'll make food for all of us."
"Thanks." George and I say at the same time.

I look at him, watching every move he makes, making sure he doesn't hurt himself. George walked to his room while holding the wall with his non-broken hand for balance. I turn away as he opens and closed his door.
I should go check on him later tonight.

No, like I say, go get some rest Clay.

Why should I listen to you? What do I even you? Clay's third person?
