Chapter 1: The Beginning

"Oh my god bro! I knew it was you!" Levi throws his phone in anger. He can hear his friend laughing through the speakers. The screen displaying a dim light with the word "DEFEAT" written in red.

"Levi, you know I can't have any witnesses!" He could hear his friend continuing to cackle through his phone. Levi sighs in annoyance.

"Rye, this is why I don't like playing with you! You always change your mind at the last second!" Levi continues to rant while Rye just sighs.

In the background of Rye's audio, a faint noise is heard by Levi. Rye's eyes widen in panic as Levi can hear him scrambling papers together. Levi stares at his phone in confusion.

"Dude, what are you doing?" Rye continues to viciously write as typing can also be heard. Levi continues to look more confused as well as concerned.

"Levi, the essay for Mrs. Lewis is due in an hour!" Rye continues to panic and write.

"...Levi?" Rye stops writing and becomes confused as to why Levi is so silent.

"Shit!" Levi scrambles out of his desk chair and starts rummaging through his bag. He completely forgot about the essay, even though it was most of his grade.

"Oof man, well I better go. Or else moms gonna get on to me." Rye ends the call while Levi continues to stress and quickly scribble words onto a sheet of paper. This was only his rough draft, he still had to type the actual essay.

About ten minutes later, he finally finished his paper form. Levi glances at his digital alarm clock. In bright neon numbers, "11:13 p.m." beams from it.

"Shit..." Levi sighs and leans back in his chair. Ever since the beginning of the school year, he has been dreading every single day. He could feel himself slowly becoming insane due to the lack of sleep he's been getting.

He decides to distract himself by doing one of his favorite past times, talking to strangers on the internet! He grabs his phone, which was old and worn with several cracks, and opens Boarders. He first found the app while playing an online game with Rye. As soon as he opens the app he is immediately spammed with messages.

He couldn't help but chuckle in amusement at his friend.

Levi laughed and stood from his chair. He immediately felt sick to his stomach.

What's going on, he wondered. He had a real bad feeling about this.

He stands and faces towards his television. He grabs the remote and turns the T.V. on. What he saw shook him to his core.
