"Good morning G," "Good morning Gen," the twins greeted each other as they opened their eyes to see yet another beautiful sunny day all around them. It was about 6am, according to the kookaburra that had woken them up. The same kookaburra always laughed out loud as he sat in the same tree at the same time. "So, what's the plan for today then?" asked Genevieve. "Oh my gosh, we start school today!" Genevieve realised as she looked at the note she had written on her hand. Neither of the twins had very good memories! "Quick, we gotta get back; mum said she'd wake us up at six thirty so we would be ready for school on time!" Genna exclaimed as she jumped out of the tree. "Come on, Gen, what are you doing?" Genna asked her sister as she looked up the tree, shielding her eyes from the sun. "Um, Genna, whatever you do, do not step backwards," Genevieve stuttered. "Why..." Genna started but as she turned her head around she could see why. Right behind her was a Coastal Taipan, a very venomous and aggressive snake. "Um sis, help..." Genna whispered, being careful not to move. If she stood absolutely still, the snake would see her as a tree and hopefully move on. But it didn't want to move on; it was enjoying basking in the sun. "Don't worry G, I'll get him moving," Genevieve reassured her sister. She grabbed a big stone that had been up in the tree in case they needed it for one reason or another, and threw it the opposite way to where they were heading. The snake immediately started to slither in its direction, thinking that it had found breakfast. "Quick, let's run," Genevieve said as she jumped down beside Genna. And they ran as fast as they could out of the forest and across the field as they watched their feet so as not to stand on anything that looked snakish. They stood at the bottom of their window trying to catch their breath for a few minutes, and then they climbed back up, holding onto the rope as they "walked" up the wall. "That was so weird," said Genna. "We've never struck a coastal taipan here before," she continued. "Yeah, that is very strange," agreed Genevieve. "Anyway, it's almost 6:30 so let's get ready ae," Genevieve said. "First one to the bathroom gets the shower first, the other has to prepare breakfast," Genna said as she got ready to run. "Ready, go!" she shouted as they raced off down the hallway, waking their parents. "I win!" Genevieve exclaimed in joy. "I would like 3 sugars in my hot chocolate thanks," she told her twin as she entered the bathroom. "And I want milk in it this time, thank you!"

"You guys must be eager to get to school, judging by how fast you're stuffing that food down your throats!" their dad Ken commented as they all sat down for breakfast. "Oh yeah, really excited, can't wait," replied Genna through a mouth full of cereal. "You guys will choke if you're not careful!" warned Anna as they ate at triple speed. 5 seconds later they had finished. "Where'd you put our uniforms mum?" Genevieve asked as she held her towel to her. "They're on your beds, I put them there this morning," she explained. "Thanks," they said at once as they raced upstairs. "Wonder why they're in such a hurry, we don't need to go for another 45 minutes yet," Ken said aloud. Mum replied "I bet they're going to watch..."

"The crocodile hunters on!" the twins said in unison as they raced downstairs. " I knew it," Anna said. "Here we go again adventuring..." they sang along to the theme song as their mum tidied up their uniform. "Croc files!" the song ended. The twins learnt everything from watching Steve Irwin and other documentaries, they were animal crazy as their dad liked to say!

Half an hour later they all jumped in the car and headed for North Queensland high school. "Are we there yet?" asked Genna. "No," replied Anna. 1 minute later "Are we there yet?" asked Genevieve. "No," replied Ken. 1 more minute later "Are we there yet?" asked Genna. "No," replied Anna. 30 seconds later "Are we there yet?" the twins asked in unison. "NO!" the parents replied. "Are we there yet?" asked Genevieve 2 seconds later. "Did you not hear us, we said no!" replied Dad angrily. "No Daddy you're wrong, Gen's right. We are here!" said Genna smartly as she pointed to the sign saying "welcome to Queensland north high school junior campus" on their left. "Oh um right," replied Dad sounding embarrassed as they turned down the drive.

"Now, are you girls going to be alright?" asked mum as she tidied their hair. "Yes mum," they replied grumpily. They would only be there for the next 6 hours! "Right then. Just head over to the student office and they will send you on your way," she called out as they walked away. "This is so exciting, ae sis!" Genevieve exclaimed as they walked over to the office building. "Totally. I hope this school is as great as our old one!" Genna replied. "Yeah, I'm sure it will be. This place is so great, I mean  it must have people who are just as great right?" Genevieve said starting to feel worried. And they were right to be feeling worried, because as they would find, this school was like no other they had ever experienced.
