Chapter 1- A Beast!

So I know its been a hell of a lot longer then a week, but I had to do a major rehaul on the plot of this story, besides that I've been super ultra mega busy with work and school. So heres this little tidbit to let you know that I'm still alive and will eventually work on this full time. You'll get a picture next chapter, I make no promises on when I post that but hopefully it will be soon, its half done but I'm still tweeking a couple of things

Magnolia Town; Fairy Tail

*Third person*

Natsu let out a loud sigh, banging his head against the table causing Lucy and Gray to look over at their friend.

“Whats wrong with you flamebrain, you finally realized I’m better then you?” Gray taunted with a smirk, cockiness filling his every feature. This seemed to fire up the  dragonslayer a bit as he jumped to his feet with a roar.

“What’d you say you droopy eye’d bastard?!” Their skulls slammed against each other as they both pushed for dominance, fire and ice clashing angrily as they reared up for another one of their fights. Lucy only sighed as she observed the two, leaning casually on one elbow with her chin resting in her hand she watched on with disinterest.

“Honestly, don’t you two ever stop?” She knew they didn’t hear her though when the ridiculous insults continued, “Although Gray does have a point, Natsu has been a little depressed lately, don’t you think, Happy?” The blond cast her eyes down to her blue furred friend who paused from eating a large fish, pulling the half eaten creature from his mouth to answer.

“Aye, it’s been a while since we’ve been on a job after all.” Finishing his fish and licking his paws, the small cat stood up and watched the now half naked Gray and flaming Natsu who were now throwing punches at each other, a few guild members stumbling and lifting their drinks to get out of their line of fire.

Putting a paw to his face he tilted his head in thought, “I think he said something about none of the jobs being interesting enough.” With a groan Lucy let her head hit fall off her palm and onto the table.

“Honestly, I wish he would stop focusing on how interesting he thinks it will be and just pick a job. I’m never going to make my rent at this rate.” The spirit mage’s voice rose an octave as she looked up at the two fighting idiots with tears of desperation in her eyes.

“If you whine like that you’ll only get more wrinkles.” Lucy cast a glare over to the smirking cat about to retort before a loud crash suddenly caught her attention. The whole guild jumped a bit from the intruding noise only to look over to Natsu and Gray who’s faces were now crushed beneath Erza’s feet.

“That’s enough you two, stop playing around we have work to do.” Her armor shined brightly with the lights refection as she stood proudly atop the two boys.

Mirajane walked out from behind the bar holding a tray with a few drinks looking over at the red head happily, “Oh Erza, when did you get back?”

Lucy immediately perked up looking happily over too her scarlet haired friend with dollar  signs shining in her eyes, “Never mind that, you found a job?”

Smiling as she walked off the two beaten mages to speak with the her blonde and white hair companions Erza nodded, “Just now Mira, and yes. I heard some rumors as I was finishing up my mission. It’s something even Natsu would be interested in, besides this situation is something I don’t think we can ignore.”

“DAMN YOU ERZA! FIGHT ME!” Natsu launched himself off the floor aiming a fiery fist at the armor clad women only for her to dodge and send him flying into a pillar with a half hearted kick to his back.

“Baka.” Gray snickered at the sprawled out dragon slayer. Erza quickly regained everyones attention as she slammed her fist down on the table. All the guild quickly looked at the scarlet haired female as she narrowed her eyes at Gray and Natsu. Lucy and Happy shuddered at the dark look on the females face.

“A beast has been attacking merchants traveling in and out of a small town to the west of here. Apparently there have been numerous injuries and disappearances. Just this past week a caravan of twenty traveling out of the town were all put into critical condition.”

A look of seriousness crossed Natsu’s and Gray’s faces as they narrowed their eyes.

“A beast is it?” All eyes quickly shifted up to the bannister of the second floor to focus on Master Makarov as he sat cross-legged, eyes closed in thought.

“Yes,” Erza continued, ”apparently it normally attacks at night, although there have been a few daylight attacks as well. Those who are now recovered report that it takes the form of a large oddly colored wolf and appears to be able to use some sort of magic, though there were no reports of what kind. Import and export in the village has all but ceased and many of the villagers are struggling to make ends meat. The worst part of this story, however, is that many of the villages children have been going missing as well. The town is offering a reward of 3,000,000 jewels to whomever can bring them the beast’s head. Due to the situation of the town, I don’t think this is something we can ignore.”

“Hmmm...” The master’s head was bowed in thought trying to put the matter together, “Troublesome indeed...”

“A BEAST IS ATTACKING, CHILDREN ARE MISSING! WHAT ARE WE STILL STANDING AROUND FOR jijii!” Natsu was now on his feet, clutching a fist in front of his face with fire burning in his eyes.

With a sigh the master opened his eyes and cast his gaze down on the watching guild, “Natsu’s right, we can not ignore this situation. There for I’m sending Fairy Tail’s strongest team to deal with this matter.” Standing up on the railing of the bannister the short old man looked down at this team with hard eyes.

“Erza, Natsu, Gray, Lucy, and Happy!” The five stood proudly coming to the center of the room to stand, or in Happy’s case fly, beneath their master.

A large proud smile crossed Makarov’s face as he looked down at his ‘children’, “Don’t let Fairy Tail down.”

The serious faces of the guild all broke into smiles and Natsu and Gray slung their arms over each other’s shoulders. “Don’t worry old man,” Gray started.

“Yeah, there’s no way I could fail, even if I have to work with this pervert!” Natsu smirked.

“What did you say basterd!” Before they could get into it once again Erza grabbed the two by their collars and began to drag them off. Lucy looked after them with a large bead of sweat rolling down her face.

Sighing the blond shook her head, “Hear we go.” A little reluctant she trudged after the three.

“Happy!” Came Natsu’s shout as he was dragged out the guilds doors.

The little blue cat quickly flew after the group, “AYE SIR!”
