Rose and I have been best friends for years. We met at school when she was the new girl. We don't know where she went before Emerald High and when I say me I mean me and her. She doesn't remember much of her childhood. Her mom is pretty hush hush about it, if you know what I mean. Either way she's always at my house or we go to the park or she interrupts me when i'm doing homework. I may or may not have a crush on her. You'll understand as the story unfolds, I promise! I hope so at least.

This story starts back on August 8th, 2025. Rose and I were heading to my friend Lance's house for a party. The big summer bash, right before senior year started!

"I dare you to go home." She looked at me with a smug look.

As her eyes narrowed in on me across from her. We were sitting upstairs in Lance's guest room playing truth or dare. There were only 6 of us in the circle, me, Rose, Lance, Rachel, Ashley and Kinsley.

"What?" I asked her, shocked at the dare. I didn't go out much and when Lance invited me to this I was excited and had to beg her to even come with me!

"You heard me." She crossed her arms smirking. As she turned to Kinsley laughing to herself.

"Yeah! You heard her!" Lance yelled, while he was laughing, pushing me to the side a bit.

I didn't really understand why she was daring me to go home, but I had no choice. "I can't believe this." I mumbled to myself as I grabbed my jacket and keys. Walked out the door.

Why in the world would she dare me to go home? We came together. It was at my best friend's house too! Zack drove home angry and confused by Rose's actions. Yet, he had no idea what was about to happen at that party as he went home and fell asleep.

~Next Morning~

As Zack rolled over in his twin sized bed reaching for his phone he heard Alice downstairs making breakfast. I wonder what she's making. Now let's see, no phone calls or texts from Rose. She couldn't even let me know when she got home. Zack got up and stumbled down the stairs where his sister was in the kitchen.

"Hey Z how was the party?" His little sister Alice asked as she poured milk into her cereal.

"I wouldn't know." I walked past her to get to the fridge.

"Really? Why?" She asked puzzled as she shoveled a bite of fruity pebbles in her mouth.

"Maybe because Rose dared me to go home. Now don't talk with your mouth full." I rolled my eyes at her as she stuck her tongue out at me as she walked away.

"I'm making waffles." Zack grabbed the mix out of the cabinet and began mixing the batter. Thinking to himself about her actions last night. I would do anything for Rose, but I'm not sure she'd do the same for me. Zack sighed lost in thought of why she'd send him home. "Shit my waffles!" He had left them in the waffle iron too long as they turned crispy black.

"Hey Z?" Alice called as the TV cut on.

"What is it?" Zack walked into the living room picking at his burnt waffles.

"I think I have to throw these waffles out." He spoke as he reached the couch where Alice was sitting.

"It looks like it, but wasn't the party at Lance's right?" She looked up to see the burnt waffles pointing at the Tv as the nes played this morning's story.

"Yeah wh-" Alice jumped up as the plate shattered and waffles hit the floor."Z!" I couldn't move. Feet frozen to the floor. Eyes glued to the screen.

"4 teens found dead on 165 Guard Rd. in what looks to be a mass killing. There are no suspects at this time. Police are running an investigation as more information will be released later on."
