room of requirementPARTIES ALWAYS seemed to suffocate you, the vibrant themes of celebration was amazing, sure. But the feeling of your body being pressed with a number of students made you sick, thus explaining why you had decided to make Gryffindor's celebratory win into something more private with your friends.
The Room of Requirement was the perfect place at that. Harry had asked for a room that replicated the Common Room, of course with the crowd of other strangers absent.
There you were sitting on the couch, leaning on Ron's shoulder as the two of you sipped Butterbeer ( Could've been Firewhiskey if it wasn't for Seamus ). The others were in their own groups, while the three Slytherin boys sat themselves in front of you two.
The silence between the five of you was beginning to feel a little awkward, introductions were already exchanged yet it seemed to be the catalyst for the unbudging atmosphere that surrounded the group. It was meant to be a celebration after all, yet at the moment it felt like you had lost.
( A little dramatic but hey! )
The sound of the others' laughter filled up your ears, the Golden Trio playing games with the Ravenclaw girls while Neville, Seamus, and Dean had taken liberty in sneaking out to get the Firewhiskey that'd been stolen.
"So what's everyone been up to nowadays?" You broke the silence, looking at Blaise, Draco, and Theodore with expectation.
"Nothing. No one hits me up!"
"Already practicing for the next Quidditch match."
"Tutoring you, obviously."
You clicked your tongue, hauling your own self to focus on Ron as you await his reply.
"Spending time with my girl, obviously."
Instantly, Draco and Blaise howled as a cheer, seemingly giddy at the two lovebirds in front of them. On the other hand, Theodore remained still, his mouth constrained to a line.
"Immature gits, both of you!" You chuckled. "I'm going to get more Butterbeer, anyone want some?"
Ron, who was playing with your hands, let go immediately and declined your offer with a smile. Blaise and Draco followed his actions, but you could've sworn Draco's elbow was heavily pressed against the corners of Theodore's chest as if to restrict him from moving. You shrugged it off and began to move away, until Theodore suddenly caught up to your figure, walking towards the small bar with you.
"My bad, just realised I wanted some too." He grinned, showing how his mug was clear as new. You only nod, quickly looking back to the three boys who were visibly glaring daggers at Theodore. "I swear, is it just me or things seem weird today?" You sighed, grabbing the jug filled with Butterbeer to fill your own.
"Uh, not really. I think it's just you," He feigned ignorance, replicating your actions. "Can I ask you something?"
"Yeah?" you replied, sipping the excess liquid off your mug. You hastily look up towards him and see how his eyes were already resting on yours. "What's up?" His head flickered towards Ron's direction, who was obviously still frowning at the boy as if there was no tomorrow.
"About Ronald. . . do you love him?" You instantly choke on your drink at the sudden question, flustered. Yet when you examined him, he hadn't budged nor looked away from Ron, his only movement consisting of consuming his butterbeer.
"Wow. Way to catch me off-guard, mister!" You fake a laugh, gulping down more of your drink to calm yourself. "Why do you ask?" You quickly add.
"Just curious."
You follow his line of sight, meeting the eyes of Ron himself. A clear answer pops into your mind, and you were rather certain especially when you couldn't fight the smile appearing on your face ( Who's the simp now? ).
"You into him?" You cheekily asked. Though the appearance of Theodore's troubled expression made you frantic, hurriedly adding another word. "I won't judge!"
"Great to see you being . . . open about this subject. But I'm into girls, if that wasn't clear enough?" He cleared his throat.
"Right. Sorry, it's just, I wouldn't have been surprised. He's an amazing guy, I think borderline perfect even. Eugh, don't tell him I said that. I really appreciate him a lot and can we talk about how cute he is?" You babbled on.
"Sounds like you do love him."
"Yeah. I think I do," you replied. No, you knew you did. Yet for some reason, you couldn't bring yourself to admit it. What if he didn't feel the same? "Maybe."
Silence occupied the two of you, before you quickly signalled to return back towards where you sat. Theodore only forced out a nod, following in tow as you headed straight to your boyfriend. Ron was visibly relieved, immediately patting down the spot right next to him.
"So there's a chance you don't." Theodore whispered to himself, almost inaudible especially paired with your friends' laughter that echoed across the room.
"Huh?" You didn't hear him.
