it was the first time that i met you, i was back home from grocery shopping since i ran out of milk. while i was walking home, accompanied by the barking of dogs from a far away village, a truck was parked infront of the vacant house beside mine. an emotion i couldn't explain, more of like happiness, knowing that it wouldn't be so quiet anymore now that i had new neighbors, hoping they would be lively.

i stopped by to greet your parents, they seemed giddy, quite the opposite of my parents. they conversed with me, about their son who was on his way home. to my surprise, they asked me to be your girlfriend, well maybe because they had come to a conclusion that i was a nice girl, i was flustered by their sudden comment, but i accepted it as a compliment, it must be how the elderly tells someone that they're pretty.

i had already been inside my house, when our conversation ended. i thought of going out, to get something for your parents as a welcome gift.

i headed out, and that was the first time i saw you. it was memorable but i couldn't fully see your face. your jet black bangs draped over your eyes, your lips formed a straight line, you didn't smile or frown as you looked down your phone screen. i just passed you by, continuing to walk at the nearby cafe.

i didn't know what kind of drink your parents liked, i just simply assumed they liked americano. i also bought mocha-flavored cake, nothing much but i hoped that it would've been enough to be considered as a welcome gift.

and then i saw you again, this time only your back. you didn't pay attention to what was infront of you, luckily, the neighborhood you moved into was quiet, no cars, no kids playing on the streets, no danger ahead.

i slowed down my pace so you wouldn't think i was following you. you just kept walking, not until you reached my neighbors' house. my mouth agape, the boy i had encountered awhile ago was the neighbors' son.

i gathered up my courage, walked up to you, and tapped your shoulder. and thats when i saw how beautiful you really were, the moonlight had striked perfectly onto your face, i could see your eyes now, it was the color mixed of dark chocolate and caramel, your eyelashes were so long, that i even managed to get jealous. i was in awe, but had snapped out of it immediately, thank god or you would've been weirded out. you asked if there was something that i needed, i handled you the food i bought for your parents. your head just nodded, your back turned away from me, you got in the front door and disappeared. i didn't know if you were just plain rude or was just shy.

at home, in my bed, i just couldn't seem to drift off to sleep, i kept thinking about you, your unreal facial features, how ethereal you looked in that moment.

even when you closed the door on me without saying a word,

i didn't mind.
