*take into consideration I know this story needs a lot of editing done to it, so think of this as a rough draft. I hope you enjoy this preview of my story, though :)!!*
The summer night was silent and peaceful. The woman stood beside her daughters bed, leaning down to kiss her goodnight. She laid a soft peck on her forehead and ran her fingers through the five year old girl's hair before turning off the lights, taking one last glance before leaving down the hall.
The lights flickered as she walked towards her room, an ominous aura wrapping around the woman. She shuddered and looked around, feeling as if someone was watching her. She shook off the feeling and moved into her room, briskly getting into bed and shut off the lights.
The woman felt the creature of the dark stir in the shadows, waiting. A monster of both terror and darkness lurked, forming a dark shape in the corner of the woman's room. She could sense the demon and quickly flicked on the light, looking into the corner.
"I know you're here, Lucifer," she said, her voice shaking despite trying to seem calm and collected.
The King of Demons chuckled, forming into the shape of a man. "It is always a pleasure to see you, Ella darling," he cooed, bowing his head. Shadows wrapped around his body, almost as if forming a cloak to keep him protected from the woman.
"Why are you here?" Ella spoke harshly, standing to the side of her bed. She was not afraid of the demon that stood in front of her, although he was obviously more powerful than she was.
Lucifer let out a sigh, walking towards the woman, "I have come to retrieve my promised reward, sweetheart. You most certainly haven't forgotten our deal, have you?" he spoke in a sickly sweet tone, a small degree of snark coating his words.
Ella reached her hand up around the necklace on her neck, holding it tightly, "The deal was broken, you damned demon. You even said so yourself," she said firmly.
The King let out a loud laugh, "Oh, Ella! You must be imagining things. I would never do something like that," he slithered in front of her, cupping her chin in his hand. Quickly she knocked his hand away, glaring into the crimson eyes of the demon.
"Don't play with me, Lucifer. Our deal was broken. You have no reason to be here now,"
The King balled up his hand into a fist, giving the woman a toothy grin, "I'm sorry to break it to you sweetheart, but our deal still stands, and your daughter is mine, now," he said, his body disintegrating into the shadows. He moved under the door and quickly down the hall.
Ella gasped and ran after him, running to her daughters bed room. The door slammed shut, so she banged on it, yelling swears at the King of Demons. The woman stepped back briefly and held her hand out, an eruption of wind bursting the door open. She rushed inside, finding the girl in the arms of the Kings human form. He brought a finger up to his lips.
The woman cried out, charging into the King. He grabs hold of her arm easily and threw her aside, her body slamming against the wall. She quickly bounced back off the wall and charged at him again, evading his arm and took her daughter from him, running out the room.
The demon bellowed in rage, his body taking the form of shadows once more. He went after the woman, blue flames lighting the hallway as he followed after her. The woman turned the corner and ran down the stairs, feeling the shadows right at her feet. As soon as she reached the bottom, she turned and shot her hand out at them, a large gust of wind dispersing the shadows.
Swiftly she rushed towards the door. The shadows quickly slithered in front of the woman, taking the shape of a man once again. "You rottened mage!" he roared, blue flames erupting around them. The woman fell back, holding her daughter against her chest. She heard a soft noise come from the little girl's mouth, and her daughter pushed back, looking up at her mother.
"Mommy? Why is it so bright?" she asked, rubbing her eyes. The demon looked down at the two, a crooked smile forming against his lips.
"She's such a precious thing, isn't she?" he cooed, reaching a hand out towards them. "I want her!" He snarled, moving towards her. Ella pushed her daughters head into her chest and glared up at the King, reaching her hand out and shot a ball of fire straight at him. He became shadows again with a hiss, the darkness climbing up the walls and around the fire barricade he formed.
The mage gave the little girl a sad smile and kissed her forehead. She then unhooked the necklace from around her neck and put it around the neck of the little girl, "Take this and never lose it. Don't let anyone take it from you. Understand?" she whispered. Slowly the little girl nodded her head. The mage then stood, setting her daughter down on the ground. "I love you, sweetheart. Don't you ever forget that," she said, placing a hand on the girls head.
Ella shut her eyes and whispered a spell under her breath, and with that, the little girl disappeared. The house began to shake beneath her feet, but she held her ground, watching as the King appeared before her, his true demon form appearing. His seven foot body towered over her, scales that shimmered blue covered his body, large curled horns attached to his head. His golden eyes stared into the mage, a rage so intense that caused the mage to cower. The demon lunged forward and grabbed hold of the woman by her neck. The mage squirmed in his grasp and struggled for her life, glaring at the demon.
"What did you do to her?! Tell me where that twisted little girl is?!" he roared, nostrils flaring and his eyes dilating.
The mage gave the King a cocky grin, "You'll never be able to find her, Lucifer," she chocked out, eyes fierce. "Even after I'm dead, nothing you can do will allow you to find her!"
The woman suddenly erupted into blue flames. The King dropped the mage and watched her fall, a disgusted look on his face. She let out a gasp and squirmed on the floor, the flames boiling her skin. Moments later, however, she closed her eyes, whispering something under her breathe. And with that, the mage lay still, the fire eating at her body until there was nothing left.
