A couple easy things you can do to reduce your personal carbon footprint :)
• unplug devices when they're fully charged
• turn of lights when you don't need them/aren't in the room with them
• don't leave the fridge open for too long
• start a compost pile for all food you don't finish
• carpool, use public transit, walk, or ride a bike when possible (also saves gas money)
• use reusable bags and water bottles when possible
• turn off faucets/showers/etc when not in use
• shorten your showers
• don't buy things you don't need/won't use (happiness counts as a need, but if you buy a dress than never wear it, that's a waste of material)
• donate old things when possible! instead of throwing out clothes, give them to others so they don't go to waste
• use less packaging when possible (buy things with les plastic wrapped around them)
• buy non-perishable foods in bulk when possible (less packaging and won't go bad)
• when you order takeout, don't get the plastic silverware, just use the silverware you have at home (if you have any)
• start a garden and grow some of your own food organically
• if you can, go vegan or vegetarian. if you can't, try to at least cut down your beef consumption
• if possible, buy used goods (clothes, cars, etc) instead of new ones. they're usually cheaper and just as nice, plus they lower your carbon footprint!
• try to fix things when they break instead of just buying a new one (also saves money)
See if you can implement two or three of these into your lifestyle! You won't regret it! Also, if anyone would like me to do a more in-depth explanation of how climate change actually works, I'd be happy to do my best to explain it simply.
