Chapter 2

I awake later on, traveling on what seems to be a ski lift, going down, I look back and then forwards. No light on either ends, I must have been on her fora while, I look beside the lift and see a huge gap between myself and the wall, I watch as my Eva gets shot down beside me, out of sight already...

I look to the seat beside me and see a woman who looks to be about her twenties... And extremely bored... I say nothing and look forwards again.

"I see that you're awake." She said to me, "I'm colonel Katsuragi, I hear that you are a new pilot to NERV."

I only nodded my head and continued to look forward.

She looks at me and groaned, "So you're one of those people. My first name is Misato."

"I'm Kirai, Kirai Hidora..." I continued to look forward and I saw a faint light at the end of the tunnel.

"Oh so you just don't like to talk. Well if you hang around the other four pilots long enough you might."

"Oh... Ok..." That's all I felt like saying, "Honestly I don't care if I do or not. I'm just not a pleasant person all the time..."

She looked at me and laughed.

"What is so funny..." I said, not entirely happy of her laugh.

"You sound like how some of the pilots used to act. Just don't run away from piloting like Shinji tried. You'll always come back, and on top of that you're the only one who knows how to pilot a semi-aerial Evangelion." She spoke like it were true.

"I'd never run away from piloting." The light grew brighter at the end of the tunnel, "And I'm sure that they could find a replacement... Or already have one"

She looked at me, "Wow your depressing... I hope you grow out of that. Speaking of which! You are tall! How old are you?"

"I'm 16. If I were in school I'd be a sophomore. I quit school after my freshman year." We reached the end of the tunnel to a platform and we both stepped off the lift.

"NERV is going to put you back in school with the other pilots."

I sighed, "I can't focus on school..."

"They don't care, it's not like the grades will affect your piloting." She started to walk and I followed, "It's just to connect with the other pilots more."

Each time she said other pilots I felt more excited... Why is that? I sigh, "Alright..."

We arrive sometime later at a building after going through a maze like system. We walk through the building for a while and reach a room with a man at a table, he seemed important like he was the head of the facility... He probably is. Just look at this room and his desk... Seriously...

Misato was the first to speak, "This is the new pilot. Kirai Hidora."

The man at the desk only nodded and asked, "Where is he to be staying?"

She replied, "An apartment maybe or perhaps at my place. I already have two pilots staying there, it couldn't hurt to have another"

I quickly stepped in, "I prefer to live alone. I don't need company."

Misato responded with disappointment in her voice, "That's too bad, but it's not your decision."

I just looked at her and started to walk outside.

Some time later she came out of the room and looked at me, "You get your own apartment. Happy?"

I gave no response and looked at her.

Misato seemed to be aggravated by my reaction, "You seriously need to express yourself or at least talk more."

"Why does it matter?" I asked.

She looked at me, shook her head, and sighed, "Whatever, but because of your Evangelion we will have an easier time defeating Angels. Seeing that some of them are more aerial than the other Evas can handle."

Why is she bringing this up? "I know that already, I've seen the Angels that have been fought so far over here. Now I want to get to my apartment."

"Fine fine, if you really want to be alone that badly just go. I'll have someone escort you there. Maybe a pilot... That would be interesting." She said mischievously.

"Alright..." I hoped for that.

We walked for a while and stopped at a room, she called someone named Shinji? I think that's who it was... I waited for a while.

Misato looked a little irritated, "Where is he?"

I responded, "Not everyone can meet a dead line easily." As soon as I said that a kid walked it, brown hair, about average height.

Misato smiled a bit, "This is Shinji, pilot of Evangelion unit 01. He will escort you to your apartment. Shinji, this is Kirai." She pointed towards me.

Shinji smiled a bit, "Hello... Wait I'm escorting him to his apartment? Where is it?"

I looked at Misato.

Misato told Shinji where it was and told him to take me there.

Shinji started to walk and I followed.

Another seemingly endless trip... This place is so confusing... At least we made it. I think...

Shinji looked at me and spoke, "You're the new pilot?"

I responded with a nod, "Pilot of Evangelion unit 07, the only semi-aerial Eva. You pilot unit 01, right?"

Shinji nodded, "Yea, it's nice to meet you." He put out his hand.

I looked at his hand uncomfortably, I put my hand out as well and he grabbed it, shaking my hand.

"You don't talk much do you?" Shinji asked.

"No" I looked at the apartment doors near by and pulled my hand back from his. I saw a door with boxes by it. "I suppose that is mine?"

Shinji nodded, "Yea."

I started to walk towards it and I opened the door and picked up my boxes and stepped inside, placing the boxes down I looked around, examining the place, "Alright... Shinji, where do you suppose my Eva is at the moment?"

He walked in and responded, "It depends if it needs testing or not."

"It was in no need for testing." I looked at him.

"Then it's in the hangar. If you want to see it just ask."

I sighed and looked at him, "Bring me to the hangar."

He started to walk away, I followed again. "The other pilots might be there."

I hoped so.
