It had all started with a patient coming into the ER. Nobody down there could understand what was wrong with the man. Green, bold, angry lines spread up his arm, over his chest, up to his neck, and his face.
It looked as if It was an infection except it was unlike anything had ever seen before.
The hospital had gone into lockdown merely hours after the man had been brought in.
Now, there were things roaming the hospital hallway, that's that looked human but weren't. Apparently, the man had attacked a nurse, she came down with it and started everyone else.
News of Edenbrook's lockdown spread over Boston. Everyone came up with theories, but none of them were correct. People knew the was some sort of virus spreading throughout the hospital, but this wasn't a virus.
This was something else.
The lockdown had been implemented a couple of hours ago. Casey had been in the cafeteria getting some food during her lunch break when all hell ensued. She had taken residence in a storage closet, with Bryce and Jackie who happened to be with her. They'd barricaded the door, but that didn't prevent them from hearing what was going on the other side of the wood. Peoples scared, panicked screams echoing down the hospital corridors, ruckus after ruckus as those...things attacked more and more people until no one uninfected remained.
The screams had stopped replaced with inhuman like growling, groaning, and grunts.
Ethan had been on the other side of the hospital when all hell broke loose. but they we're all able to hear the ear piercingly loud screaming, how that nightmare-inducing sound had managed to travel so far was beyond them, but it was surely a sound that was going to haunt their nightmares for a long time to come.
He was currently held up in his office, Naveen, June, and Baz with him. They'd barricaded the door with Ethan's desk, as they sat on the other side of it, making sure it was pressing right up against the entrance.
No one understood what this was. They'd put on the tv and discovered it was believed to be some sort of virus spreading if that was true, why were they being asked to hide, and what was making those noises as it tried to break its way in.
Some time passed and the noises stopped, telling them that whatever it was had given up and left. What concerned them was that screaming had stopped too.
Were they the last few people alive?
Ethan's mind kept going to Casey. Where was she? Was she alive? Was she safe?
Ethan got to his feet. He couldn't just sit there anymore. He needed to find Casey. Ethan requested that the other's climb to their feet, which they did so rather reluctantly and confused. Ethan didn't say anything as he single-handedly started to drag the desk away.
"Ethan, what are you doing?" Naveen questioned, placing a hand on his arm, trying to remove it from the desk except Ethan continued.
"I can't just sit here." Once he'd dragged it away from the door enough for him to open it and squeeze out, he made his way to the door, opening it slightly and peeking his head out into the hallway.
Nothing was in sight and always was silent.
With that, he squeezed his way about much to his coworker's dismay. "Where are you going? it's not safe out there!" Naveen bellowed as Ethan stepped out into the hallway.
Ethan didn't say anything as he made his way down the hall. "He's going to get himself killed," he heard June exclaim.
That very well might be the case but he couldn't sit there any longer while the hospital plunged into chaos. He couldn't sit there any longer not knowing if his Rookie was safe.
