how long has it been now?

you and ena had been walking for a long, long time, hand in hand, through this vast, grey wasteland. you would think that this would get rather boring, there really isn't much to look at, and the fuzzy, staticky silence filling this void certainly would get old quick, it seemed.

despite this, you didnt feel bored at all, quite the contrary, in fact. you actually found it quite nice, especially with ena here with you. they certainly did have a lot to say, and their extravagant musings and stories kept you very much entertained.

they told you all they knew about 'here'. and, according to them, it seemed like a pretty unpredictable place. nothing made sense to you, but ena talked as if it was supposed to. still, you listened intently. something about their voice made it hard not to pay attention.

moony did seem nice, from what you've heard. she was described as free-spirited, kind, and a..well-rounded friend. you smiled as ena talked on and on, occasionally asking you questions about yourself, and your past. of course, most of these questions you couldn't answer, because of your horribly fuzzy memory, but you appreciated the effort.

"oh! it seems like we've arrived!" ena suddenly exclaimed, stopping their pace with a wide half smile. you stopped as well, and looked ahead of you, which lie a certainly, interesting looking structure.

it looked almost alien, in such a colorless and grey environment such as this. shiny, round, and blue, almost resembling a creature of some sort. you had no idea what purpose this thing served, but you concluded it must be important.

"it looks like he's not here today..oh well! all the better for us!" ena chortled in a sing-song tone, marching happily towards the blue dome, waving for you to follow.

you were just about to ask who exactly he was, when you realized an even more serious predicament.

ena had let go of your hand.

you were sure ena meant no harm, they had simply let go in order to face the dome instead. however, you found yourself missing their touch, as you had grown used to it throughout your journey here. of course, you kept quiet, and didnt complain, however, you questioned yourself why you were so bothered by the sudden change. it didnt seem like a problem to get so worked up over.

you took a deep breath and stepped even closer to the blue structure, following suit of ena. "what..is this?" you inquired.

"this, is where moony is, of course!" ena answered simply. "um..." you looked around. "i dont think i see her..anywhere." you stated, confused. was she inside the dome? you didnt spot any sort of entrance.

"naturally! thats because shes through here!" ena giggled. just then, the dome began to change form. something resembling a...mouth, complete with a row of teeth along the outside, opened, revealing a passage inside. was this thing alive? you thought, hesitant to enter whatever this was.

you cowered behind ena, as they took a step inside the gaping maw. you stayed put, eyeing the thing up and down. ena noticed this. "oh, dont worry, it's safe! just..stick by me, okay?" they assured you. you nodded, and with a fearful gulp, followed them into the dark.

you really wished you could hold their hand right now.
