BANG!
A lanky thin body shot up with a gasp, the sheets fluttering around the male. Sweat dripped from his pale skin as his chest heaved, body aching with worry.
"Fuuck..." Izaya's voice was raspy and broken, having just woken up from a nightmare. Running a hand through his damp hair, he let out a long sigh to calm his nerves; nightmares truly are the worst.
Funny thing nightmares are, even when you don't remember them, they still haunt you. That's how Izaya felt at that very moment as he pulled off the sheets, swinging his legs over the edge of the bed; Nightmares are fuckin stupid, unnecessary, ridiculous! He thought while making his way towards the bathroom, shirt sticking to his body from the sweat.
One glance in the mirror was enough to make the man nearly gag; he looked horrible! His hair stuck up and out at weird angles, skin covered in a sickly sweat from fear and worst of all, the bags under his eyes. Izaya hadn't slept in weeks, neglecting his health for work; the one time he sleeps and nightmares decide to pay him a visit.
"Course it's only human to look like shit after not sleeping for so long, huh?" He said to himself, frowning at his reflection. As much as he hated to admit it, Izaya knew he was only human; even though he wanted to be much, much more. Narcissism was his character though, a character that he played so well sometimes he scared himself. He knew from the start that he was going to turn out this way and so he embraced it, maybe a little too much.
With a sigh Izaya stripped and got in the shower, turning it on and waiting for the water to heat up before deciding to sit down on the cold floor and enjoy the warm liquid running down his back. The only time Izaya felt safest, felt the most calm, was when the shower was on. It was like warm rain giving him a weighted hug.
"BOSS!! YOU BETTER WAKE UP CAUSE IM NOT MAKING YOU BREAKFAST!-" Izaya's assistant, Namie, practically screamed from downstairs in his office; at least to Izaya she did. He knew for a fact the women was most likely muttering insults about him to herself as she got to work, really a pointless job to Izaya but Namie was persistent.
With his calm little world broken at the thought of someone else in his apartment, Izaya sighed and reluctantly washed up before hoping out and drying off. "For fuck sake, I should take a day of-" Cutting himself short, Izaya grinned with anew energy. "Ah! Take a day off. Hehe maybe I could visit my favorite little city~" And with that the raven haired man bolted to his room, towel around his waist, getting ready for the day; a wonderful new day all for himself.

"Namie Im going out!~ If anyone calls tell them Im busy, if they threaten you- just hang up and I'll get back to them later~" His statement made the stoic women roll her eyes but still nod, knowing he was still her boss.
The trip to Ikebukuro wasn't long but still lengthy though that didn't waiver Izaya at all. He was excited to have a day off and already making a list of things to enjoy today; perhaps even destroy though he wasn't fully malicious on this occasion.
"I wonder if Simon is having an deals today, ah some sushi would be great right now!~" Izaya joyfully exclaimed, a skip in his step-
A skip that was almost ruined by a sudden wisp of wind and metal object flying right past his head.
"IZZAAAAAYAAA!!!"
Someone very familiar roared out from afar.
Shizuo Heiwajima, the monster of Ikebukuro.
"Shizu-chan! I was actually just thinking about you~" Izaya let out a soft chuckle, turning to meet the monster himself. Shizuo stood a good distance away with a disgusted look on his face. Ah don't look at me like that my Shizu-chan Izaya thought to himself with a smirk. Don't you know that look makes a heart ache~
"Izaya you fuckin flea! When are you gonna either stay out of town or just die already?!" The blonde man yelled while grasping a street sign, bending the metal as he pulled it out of the ground almost effortlessly. Izaya always wondered how Shizuo managed to do such inhuman things, tearing things apart like nothing and tossing huge objects around like broken toys; it amazed and terrified him. "Well Shizu-chan, if you stopped throwing things at me-" And just like that another sign went flying past Izaya causing him to dodge with little effort. "my point stands- Maybe we could have some fun! Go out for dinner!~" The male joked, though in the back of his mind it didn't seem all that bad of an idea to him. With a sigh, clearing those thoughts from his head Izaya backed up a bit, giving Shizuo his signature smirk "Like a date?~"
This caused Shizuo to nearly choke on his own words, his anxiety from that statement slowly turning to rage. "The fuck is wrong with you flea?! Like I'd go to dinner with you! YOU'RE DISGUSTING!!" Shizuo barked, ripping up a street light and swinging it at the man who he hated, only for Izaya to once again dodge out of the way, laughing like a child. An insane child.
"Oh Shizu-chan, don't hit me that's rude!~" Izaya stated, watching Shizuo grind his teeth in rage. Izaya had learned from a young age that if you can't get someone to like you, make them hate you; at least they'll stick around. It was a rule he followed by closely when it came to Shizuo, it was already too late for them to be friends and so Izaya decided enemies was the next best thing!
But sadly, things change. Whether by god or chance things will always change. A split second decision, even if it has good intentions, can lead to endless pain for many people. The decision of a mad man, or maybe a reckless teen looking to be on top- Will end a man's life.
Izaya turned to run, fully ready for a chase by his one and only monster; only to be stopped by a person in a red hoodie. They stood right in his way, much to his disappointment. "Excuse me, I have to run if you don't min-" "GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY!!" Izaya was cut off by the very person he was about to run from, not the most polite way of saying it but it worked none the less. At least Izaya thought it would.
The person just stood there, hands in his pockets. Luckily for Izaya, Shizuo wouldn't dare hurt a random kid without being provoked though this kid was getting close to doing just that. "Hey! If you'll just move that would be nic-" Izaya attempted to shove by, all politeness leaving- though that very quickly turned to fear as the kid took something out of his pocket.
A gun.
Izaya's previous nightmare instantly came back to him, the loud sound, the pain, the quick death. His eyes widened like a deer in headlights as things seemed to move in slow motion. No one, human or not, could dodge a bullet from point blank rage and Izaya fearfully knew that as within just a few split seconds, he felt the cold metal of the barrel tap his chin.
This was it.
This was death.
Izaya was livid. A god such as himself die in such a pathetic way?! No! And in front of-
In front of Shizuo none the less...
As if by fate Izaya quickly glanced at Shizuo, his world still moving at a near stand still. Shizuo.
Shizuo.
Shizuo.
All Izaya could think of in that last second was Shizuo, the look on his face; the sudden fear and realization when-
BANG!
Izaya thought of nothing.
