hey i love making these kind of posts. this time I'm not bashing anyone, just pointing out some facts. spoilers ig?

So I've noticed alot of people at first glance seemed to like Bakugou's mother or feel neutral about her, even making memes/edits of her infamous whack against her son. I was part of the neutral group. At first his parents are easily forgettable and ignored, they aren't major roles unlike Todoroki's abuser which is his father. Endeavor

Now we all know Endvore is terrible and we got a redemption arc so we know hes. well ig changing for the better but the redemption ark will get a post its own. Let's focus on the differences between Todoroki and Bakugou.

Many people know for a fact that yes, Endvore *was* abusive to his family, without a doubt. He physically abused Shoto and his wife, mentally sccared her to the point where she attacked her son and ended up hospitalized for a long ass time, atleast what? a decade? We know he's abusive and his effect is still felt in his family and the way Todoroki reacts to social environments and his father as well as fatherly figures. Todorokis aloofness and way he responds to his friends is a direct result of his abuse, he never inserted himself into social situations therefore he acts awkward and aloof for the beginning of the story but he eventually eases up and becomes more approachable etc.

Now lets look at Bakugou, some people still argue that he wasn't abused and seem to only equate abuse with physical abuse, like Todoroki. Now I'm here to say; yes bakugou was abused in his youth. Maybe not physically but mentally and emotionally and I'm going to tell u how the abuse effected him later on and *why* his abuse is downplayed and sweeped under the rug.

Now lets look at Bakugous abuse, id say its emotional and physical however people argue against the latter. So when we're first introduced to Bakugous parents its after he got kidnapped by ruthless villains, what's his mothers first response? whacking her child and blaming him for getting kidnapped. Not, "my child just got kidnapped and couldve potentially died." she blames him for being weak and getting kidnapped. She's victim blaming. If you actually sit back and take this in its really disturbing.

We can assume that she's always like this, victim blaming, cold, definitely not a support system in anyway for bakugou. Now lets look at recentish bakugou. Remember that fight he had with Deku? Where he was struggling with talking about his feelings, blaming himself for All mights end? start connecting the dots babes. He's never had a support system in his life, he never had anyone who'd listen to him, or offer sympathy and empathy when he needed it most. This most likely caused him to hide all his feelings up and never adress them ever. This toxic upbringing also explains his seemingly 'unessecary' anger as a response to anything that goes on around him.

All he was taught was anger and yelling, he was never taught love or how to deal with his emotions. He's angry because that's the only thing he knows how to be.

Why is this? It's 'cause of his family. He is argueabbly way more effected than Todoroki is; Todoroki seems to also bottle things up, an unhealthy method to cope yet still coping. Now why isnt it talked about more? Simple, the psychology of abuse is hardly seen or addressed in media, making it hard to understand or even identify what's considered abuse or whats not. Todorokis abuse is physical, making it easy and clear to know he's a victim. Bakugous abuse is mental, emotional. Making it harder to identify, harder to even classify as abuse. When people see Todoroki and his scar, they feel empathy, when they see Bakugou? They see an angry cocky kid who just "had too much attention" growinh up, they don't see an abused kid, struggling to survive. And that's truly tragic, the tragedy of Bakugou.

Anyway to wrap things up, yes Bakugou has been abused and mental abuse is often swept under the rug for the same reason mental illness is. Thanks for coming to my ted talk
