Epilogue
Justin stood at the bottom of the steps unable to tear his eyes off of the heavenly vision coming towards him. She was absolutely stunning in her deep sapphire blue dress. The dress was modest and hinted at just enough sexy to drive him certifiably insane.
“So,” Chloe smiled shyly when Justin didn’t speak. “What do you think?”
“Beautiful,” Justin whispered in awe. “So damn beautiful. I’m going to be the luckiest guy at the prom tonight.”
Her smile deepened. “Suck up,” she teased.
Justin stepped forward and held his hand out to her. She didn’t hesitate in taking it. “Maybe, but I’m your suck up though.” Unable to resist any longer, he dropped a soft kiss on her lips and murmured, “Only yours.”
“Only mine,” she agreed not bothering to hide the sheer happiness she was feeling in her eyes. This last year she had been on a roller coaster ride of emotions from hell. At one point she had been so low that she wasn’t sure she’d ever come back but this guy standing in front of her helped change all that. He took her hand and helped guide her back to the top.
Erica may have tried her best to make her life miserable but instead of succeeding, she ended up giving her the best gift of all. She gave her Justin. It was too bad that Erica let her jealousy rule her emotions though. From what Chloe heard from her mother, after their last run-in together, Erica had gone home and while throwing a temper tantrum, told her mother everything that she had done to Chloe. Her mother had been horrified and now Erica is currently taking up residence in a special reform school for girls.
“Alright guys, picture time.”
Chloe groaned and fought the urge to roll her eyes. “Come on mom. Didn’t you take enough while I was getting ready?”
“Honey, I was just getting started. I need some of you and Justin together, some of Justin pinning on your corsage, some of you outside…”
“Kill me now,” Chloe muttered under her breath so only Justin could hear.
He chuckled at the pouty expression she had on her face. “It’s not that bad.” He pulled her close to him and turned her around so that they were both facing her mom. He then wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his chin on her shoulder. “Now, smile party pooper.” He playfully pinched her side. “You only have one senior prom.”
“Fine,” she said sounding exasperated. Despite her droopy mood, she did in fact smile. She smiled big too because she was in Justin’s arms and right now, she couldn’t think of anywhere else she would rather be.
*****
Two hours later, Justin and Chloe walked hand in hand into the low lit auditorium. It was decorated in a tropical theme and bordered heavily along the lines of cheesy. The music was already booming from the large speakers set up in the corners of the room and the dance floor was already half full with couples moving their bodies to the contagious beat.
Chloe noticed how Cathy stood out in the middle of the floor. It was hard not to notice her. She was dressed in a dress that was far too indecent for a high school prom and of course, she had two guys surrounding her. After everyone heard about the showdown at her own school, Chloe hadn’t heard a word from Cathy or any of her groupie friends. She wondered if Justin had said anything to her. She assumed he did but frankly, she really didn't care anymore. Cathy wouldn’t even look in her direction which suited Chloe just fine.
