It had been two weeks since I humiliated Angie and revealed her secret to the entire school. She hadn't been at school since.
The cheer team was getting bored because there was no one to bully. There was no target. But that was all before my life fell apart. I still had my reputation in tact as the most popular girl. The most powerful.
When I got home that day, I found my mum and dad yelling at each other again. Oh no. Not again. This always ended with mum slamming the front foor and disappearing off to my gran's house for however long it took for her to calm down.
The argument was always about the same thing; my dad's dirty habits. And today was no different. When I sat on the stairwell and listened in, sure enough, it was about the exact same thing as they were fighting about last week.
"I can't believe you are still with that little whore!" She shouted angrily and I heard her smashing the plates down into the sink. That was a habit of hers. She always cleaned when she was angry. It calmed her down, she told me.
"I told you, we're only friends!" He shouted back, just as angry. "So what, I'm not allowed to have female friends now? Is that what you're trying to say Katherine?"
My dad had cheated on my mum. Again. And he was saying the exact same thing as always 'we're just friends'. Sure dad, sure. And he had nothing else to do except get angry as well. He was so pathetic.
I heard a loud crash and I figured it was mum purposely breaking some of the plates in anger.
"You know what? I have had enough of this bullshit! I can't handle being around you. Not now, not ever." She spat. This was different. This never happened. She seemed so angry and what she said made me panic. What was happening?
"Katherine..." My dad said cautiously. I guess he picked up on her change of tone.
"No. No more. I've had enough." She said and her voice sounded so icy. So..final. Like this was the last time she was ever speaking to dad ever.
I sneaked up the stairs as two at a time and ran into my room when I heard footsteps come towards me. I heard mum storm into her room and walk out with bags already packed because she was expecting this to happen. Of course she did. She was planning to do this for ages and now she found the perfect time.
I tiptoed down again to see if mum wanted to talk to me, to take me with her. But she walked out the door without a single goodbye to me.
She left him.
She left me.
Dad was sitting at the table with his head in his hands and I could tell that he was crying silently.
As I went back to my room, I realised that my mum was the one with all the money and a job so we were basically...broke. My world had collapsed on top of me. I lost my mum, I lost having any luxuries I ever had before. I didn't know what I was going to do.
I was about to ring Angie when I forgot that we weren't talking anymore.
I sighed and dialled Diana instead. She was my other best friend at the time. I didn't like her much but she was such a suck up so I used her all the time and made her do things for me."Hey Sum, what up babe." She answered on the first ring sounding cheerful
"H-Hey Di." I said, my voice shaking a little. I was on the verge of crying.
