I pulled up to the school and parked. Why is everyone looking at us , Dam I’m Paranoid. We walked up to the girls , Caesar and Hiro. They all knew dam.
“Hey, Hue. Can we talk” AK said.
“ok I’ll call you later” I walked past her. She hung her head.
“Jazmine, I like to discuss something with you” I asked.
She looked over to Caesar and he nodded.
“Ok,” … shit I can’t talk to my friend no more dam.
….. we walked to the bleachers and watched people signing up for track and sports. We sat on the bleachers.
Before I could say anything she started talking.
“Look I don’t know when exactly we stop being best friends but that’s no reason for you to go and punch Caesar. I don’t need your protection Huey, it’s Caesar not some rando trying to get in my pants. So I expect you to apologize and make amends with him by the end of the day ok” she says.
“Yes Dear” I say. She giggled at that.
“But Jazmine I need to tell you something”
“ I know huey” ( her voice cracked)
“Look I get it you guys are meant to be. On paper everyone says you guys would be perfect I think you guys should embrace it. Maybe….. I don’t know. It’d be nice to see you happy. She makes you happy right?”

“That’s not the point” I say
“Huey freeman get your shit together and all figured out. You know how shitty it feels to not know what is going on in that big brain of yours especially when it comes to this. (her voice cracked). Just be honest with her she will appreciate it. And get back to the mission at hand” she says.
“Don’t curse at me, and what mission exactly” I ask.
“tehe sorry, The people, Huey duh. And their rights and freedom and stuff” she says.
“Right and stuff, ok. Thank you Jazmine”

“Don’t start that shit up again, Jazmine. Let me walk you to class.” I say.
“alright don’t start cursing at me. Haha.. and No sir we only have five minutes left before the first class and it’s the first day let’s not be late. Remember first impressions are everything okay. Bye” she says while leaning in for a hug. I don’t hug back.
Maybe ill take care of this thing with AK first. Then ill decide whether or not to tell Jazmine how I feel. Or even if I want to do that.
Cindy POV
I was sitting in my first period which was math. I have AP cal. Just cause I am gangster don’t mean I gotta be a dumb bitch, shit. Leave that shit for the birds understand me. My phone kept vibrating I look down and it’s Jazmine. Wonder what her and Mchater talked about. I asked for the bathroom pass and being the first day it didn’t matter if I was there or not. As soon as I walked out, I answered.
“Ahhhhhh “
Fuck she’s crying. “Jazzy you good boo where are you”.
“Im hic in hic the hic bathroom on the second floooorrrr” she said wailing.
I ran upstairs to the second floor and burst in there. She had her gym towel laid on the floor in the big stall and she had her knees to her chest and face down.
“Hey there baby, it’s okay” I say.
“He loves her, im just the annoying little girl from across the street as always”
“Please he is in love with you and if he won’t tell you then move on boo. You deserve better than a boy who can’t man the fuck up. Okay, so pick up your head and don’t waste no mo tears on ain’t shit ass mofuckas. Ok” I tell her.
“Ok” sniffles

AK POV
I couldn’t concentrate in class. I just kept thinking of the rejection coming my way. Maybe im overreacting, maybe he does like me and we’ll live happily ever after etc. just kidding that’s whack. But realistically me and huey would make the perfect revolutionary couple. We share the same ideas so we can tackle the issues and problems. I Have this fear that he secretly wants Jazmine. Shes my friend and all but she is not for him. She is Naïve, childish, and brainwashed. I mean she is smart and the sweetest person you’ll ever meet ill give her that but let’s be real she is not his type. Im his type. He should be with me. I will convince him to be mine.
My last period was so awkward. All my friends where there. We had our study hall which was also with our lead teacher for our 12th grade class. There was Huey of course, Jazmine, Cindy and Caesar. Any other time this would have been the perfect period to have but the tension between us all was felt. We went over the syllabus and come to find out we have to do community service in order to graduate. There was a list of places to volunteer and there was one place that stood out to me. It was a political party called Exodus and mainly focused on different way to help the black community in woodcrest. I looked at my friends and they were going over it when I barged in and said “ We should all volunteer at Exodus it sounds like a great way to get in touch with our people in the community” I look at Cindy “Well most you know”.
Cindy rolled her eyes. “Mann, you know I’m always down for the brown but actually I’m gonna volunteer at the clinic anyways since my aunt work there and Jazmine got her program there for her medical career or whatever her ass doing”.
Jazmine laughed, “ Yeah that’ll be fun but it says I can’t get my hours if I already work there so I’ll volunteer at Exodus with you. You know FO MA PEOPLE”
……… silence.
*Bursts of laughter* except Huey.
“Yo Jazzy you something else girl” Caesar said.
I looked over at Huey . WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT? Is that a smirk or a half smile. Does he find her amusing? Nope Nope. I really got to do something about that.
